OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

I finish work at 2.30pm. Guess what my plans for the entire day include :D


I started to craft a skull, crying tears of lava last night, but I was a bit drunk and I ended up falling into the lava quite a few times.
I can't really remember what state the skull was in when I left it but it should be interesting! :D

Is there an up to date map of the game world somewhere? I'm finally going to try and start playing again after a prolonged illness that kept me out of game and I came back to find my vault had been visited by a theif. Sylvet seems to have put up a sign on one of my chests that kept some of my stuff private (thankyou for that, it saved some of my iron, gold and coal) but some of my valuable stuff have gone missing so I need to find a new area on the far reaches to start mining again to rebuild my stockpiles of materials.

You can get to the 'old' spawn with
/home french

Jmillers town with
/home jmiller

Not sure if there's any other "good" public waypoints though.
If you need some iron for tools/armour to get started again let me know.

I'm still wearing a full set of iron armor and have enough raw iron to make some iron picks for diamonds when I find them, but thankyou for the offer anyway.

If I wanted to get to some far out place so that I can create a mine for materials (far out as it won't be pretty), would it be best if I travel through the nether for a long distance and make a portal, this would place me somewhere miles away in the 'real' world right? I'm not sure if the map size is limited and if me doing this would cause problems or anything like that so just wanted to double check before I do anything with the nether.

For every one block you go in the Nether, you travel eight blocks in the overworld.
 
Okay, I've got quite a stupid question.

I've never really used the nether on this game :)

If I enter the nether, and say walk 100 steps, build a portal out, I'll be 800 steps from where my portal was to enter the nether?

So in theory you could travel very large distances, build a portal and you'll be outside in the middle of nowhere? or do you need a portal above ground to come out at?

The whole thing confuses me :(

I took a blow to the head in the protests so thinking about this makes it hurt more haha :(

/re the Nether.

Everything you've both posted is correct. One thing I would ask is that you don't go too crazy with your journeying. The server map size is already absolutely huge and increasing it much further is likely to lead to even more problems on the server.
