OcUK Mini Rolling Road Day 14.5 @ PowerStation (Tewksbury) - Saturday November 24th 2012

Modifying the VF35 as I'm yet to see anyone do anything more than port the exhaust housing.

I'm not saying exactly what I'm doing to it yet, as it could be a complete flop and waste of time! Therefore I wouldn't want someone to read it and think it's a good idea then waste their time!

In the interim whilst Harvey Smith gets better, I have got myself a VF43. So hopefully it's a good one and will do me until I get my turbo back. Most will say why haven't I just bought a bigger billet turbo or similar, but that's too easy and there's no fun in seeing results that everyone else has got before!

The work I'm doing to the VF35 is less than £300 worth including parts and labour. So if I get decent gains, it could lead the way for others to do similar :) I will be happy with a circa 20bhp and the ability to hold boost better, anything else is a bonus.

What did you have done to your WR1?

He's been rather ill for over a month now and had it for circa a month before he fell ill - it also doesn't help that my turbo got lost by Parcel Force and I had to source a replacement either!! No one has heard from him. Shame really as he's a Subaru guru, but there's nothing I can do if I can't get in touch.

Plus as he's sick, he has better things to worry about than my turbo and peoples front mounts lol. It bothers me, but a man's health is more important than my turbo. So a replacement turbo it is for now. :)

Because the WR1 had the 2.0 engine I think it was SR40 turbo upgrade with some other supporting mods to go with. I like to keep cars looking 100% stock but with a bit more go, with only exhaust noise giving anything away.

SR40, nice laggy turbo that ;)

I'm guessing it made around the 400 mark then?

I wouldn't modify how a WR1 looks to be fair as it's a special edition, but I have made some changes to mine as it's just your average Joe UK STi.

Yeah, must have been the SR40 because I think the turbo ruined the car and was why I never really drove it after having things done.

It never went on any dyno and the only performance thing I have is an iPhone app, the car was faster but you are right about the lag.

The guy who bought the WR1 is apparently keeping it in his car collection and won't drive it (I only had 36k miles on it), he didn't even get insurance for it and I drove it to his garage for him. I guess it will never be seen again.

Lesson learned though, anything I do to the GTR won't ruin the powerband, I like good midrange not everything at 6k+

I'll be honest, I don't mind a bit of power up top, keeps me interested. But I've heard the SR40 is just awful for lag !

Be honest though, you will struggle to ruin the GTR's power band. They don't seem to lose any response when reasonably tuned!

^JP^ - I have a VBox type setup if you want to borrow it. It's a 10hz GPS reciever hooked up to datalogging software which contains a set of performance tests stored on my Nokia N95, we use it for rallying, trackdays etc.

Suspected failed clutch slave so getting the excuses in early, but still may run!

How long are people planning on sticking around in the afternoon/evening?

Should I book two nights and go home on the Sunday? :D

^JP^ & ScoobyDoo69 - I'm getting a run done anyway so I'll bring it down.

It does 7 different speed tests (0 to ???mph/kph and in-gear ie 40-70mph etc) and 5 distance tests (0-60ft to 1 mile etc)

Ah sorry, I didn't see the list on the front page.

Sounds great, I hope we get good weather and can find some nice secluded private road ;)
