OcUK NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 @ ONLY £109.99+VAT (£129.24 Inc. VAT)!!

It's got a mild overclock to 2600. Any further than that and I'd have to relax my memory timings a tad, which I don't like to do.

1920x1200 monitor. Currently have an X1950Pro.

2.6Ghz and that resolution sounds quite promising. Although the GTX is suited for higher resolution gaming with the X2 3870 being the best. I think the GTX and X2 3870 will be better for 1920x1200 although I'm a bit cloudy on the GTS's performance at this resolution. The GT wouldn't be advised for that resolution.

Just thought I'd mention that I've got one sitting here this morning, I was surprised to find that not only did city link deliver it before I got in at 8:40, but also that this card is an ECS type and comes equipped with an accelero S1! I'll let you know how it goes once I get the Q9450 to put in, but it seems pretty good. Its even come down in price by £2 + VAT since I got it yesterday.

So is this the card you got:

If so then getting an 8800GT with the S1 cooler is indeed a very very good deal, one that I would jump at if I knew it was the card I'd also get....

What about 2 GT's in SLI?

Or would a GTX still be better?

For what it's worth, I ordered this card yesterday and it's just been delivered. Mine turns out to be a Zotac. A general Google around seems to suggest that Zotac do two versions; an 'AMP!' version (which seems to be overclocked to 700MHz) and an ordinary version. I got the 'ordinary' version clocked at 660MHz.

I won't be able to test its overclockability for a while but I hope that Zotac don't have a policy of simply creating 'AMP!' versions with those cards that overclock well and then dumping the dross into the 'ordinary' version. We'll see!

There's a review here:

Interestingly, that review suggests that the product number is 'ZT-88TES2P-FSP' but the one I got from Overclockers has a product number of 'ZT-88TES3P-FSP'. The review suggests that the card 'Lacks HDMI output' but the card I have comes with a DVI to HDMI adapter. The blurb on the box is also different i.e. to that effect.

Isn't 660Mhz still faster than reference? I thought the standard 8800GT speed was 600Mhz.

About to place an order for two of these. Should keep me going for another year..

Just had a thought..

As I've got an older SLI motherboard, do these newer PCI-E 2.0 cards work OK in the older PCI-E 1.x slots?

Hi folks I just went up OcUK and I got the Palit model and I took some pictures so you guys can see what you get before I install it.

That frog looks scary ;-) Same one I received, fitting S1 though. Bugger I didn't read up on ECS...cost me extra £15 ah well

Yup that's the one :) Was very suprised that it came already installed, saves me having to do it myself.

Having not used the S1 before i am a bit concerned at the amount of heat its going to give off (up to 85 in some reviews), but at least there are two optional fans included.

S1 + turbo module? Those are £15 alone. Damn though, if I knew I was going to get the Palit with HDMI i'd order tommorrow...

How do you overclock the 8800GT? S1 has knocked 10 degrees of idle. What's a recommended overclock with S1 + 12cm fan?
