Certainly not cancelling my pre-order. A mate I work with had his Fury X go down out of warranty and xfx not interested in helping, so he hounded me for mine (1080Ti) (he is a big big gamer in fairness). I can wait a week but not sure the smell of boiled cabbage will help my PC (it hates AMD) :D
 
How's the VR performance with these? A friend is interested in upgrading his 1080Ti which I think is likely a mistake with current pricing.

30-50% increase over 1080Ti + probably double that in DLSS supported games (which will increase in number because Nvidia are providing the code to enable it free of charge) is not satisfying? Each to their own I guess, I am very happy with the results and looking forward to receiving both 2080Ti I ordered - going to be a huge step up from R9 390X and 980Ti they will replace. They weren't cheap sure - but neither was my iPhone XS, my iPad Pro, my MacBook Pro, my Apple Watch 4 etc etc etc.

Point is, value is subjective - I and many others are perfectly happy with what we have purchased.

Not seen anything yet, but it'll likely follow the same conclusion. Stick with 1080ti for this gen....and maybe the next.
 
Also GN was pretty shady with his review using an AIB 1080Ti instead of FE. Like for like comparison should have been the case - the fact that Nvidia beefed up the cooling on the new FE cards should be included as part of the review not disregarded and compared against AIB cards instead. I have seen a couple of the reviews so far which have dome the same - it is not appropriate in my opinion. If they are going to compare AIB 1080 Ti then it should be with an equivalent AIB 2080 - Strix for Strix etc. Mind you so many GN fanboys here I fully expect to get flamed to death for criticising his oh so holy methods.

Yea depends on which headset you use. I have the rift and it's working flawlessly with my 64, which apparently is barely any better than a 1070 in VR. Doubt you'd need the 2080ti for any of these games unless your using ladles of ss but it's nothing game changing. I love VR so much now that I'm barely going to bother with standard 4k etc would rather wait for much higher resolution headsets and wait for a supreme vr card.
 
i paid £700 for my 1080ti on release day and they want £1200 on ocuk for the 2080ti lol no thanks

Just seen this now, sorry, thread moving pretty quickly!! :p That's kind of my point, two of the big features Ray Tracing and DLSS and none available at launch. I didn't have any problem with Ray Tracing not been ready at launch as that is dependent on Microsoft too, but, DLSS, I was sure they would have one or two games available. If it's as easy to implement as they say they could have had a couple of older games ready.

This generations FE card is pre-overclocked above reference and has a twin fan cooler so they compared it to a similar product from last generation. Seems pretty fair to me.

I paid (personally) £1780 for Maxwell Titan X SLI in March 2015

I can now buy a GPU for £900 ex VAT through my company that will easily outperform that, with no SLI involved.

Quite tempted to be honest...
