OcUK Nvidia RTX series review thread

Lot of titles there have skewed the final result somewhat though.
Ummm results don't get skewed by "lots of titles" skews occur from outliers. When there is a positive trend (which is what we are seeing here) that is not a skew. We see a number of titles in the 40-50 range and a number of titles in the 30-40 range with very few outliers - if we remove those outliers (r6, SF 3 and WII) we still end up with 38% average in the 30-50 range (which supports my original response that we see increases of 30-50%).

This seems to be the feeling to many

And your basis for this assumption is what? Nvidia have already stated they will add DLSS code to games FOR FREE for any developer which requests it - which means we could see a very significant number of titles with DLSS support as it won't cost the developers anything to add it.

My assumption? Please show me one game with DLSS right now that you can play. Or, just show me one developer who has said that they will implement DLSS in their older games.

You can only base things on what is actually happening, and so far there is only 20 or so games going to use DLSS. Will there be more than a handful of games using it by Christmas? Heck, by the time there are actually a good number of games using it, it will probably be time for the next generation of cards.

It's only a lot of marketing talk at the moment.

Well I'm not surpised. 1.4ss is rendering almost twice the resolution of the rift. The vega cards aren't as good anyway as the 1080s for vr let alone a ti which the guy said his mate was using. I just leave it at 1.0 and so far i've been getting constant 90fps so I'm happy. I did try 1.2 briefly but I'm getting old and I can't see much improvement unless it's virtual desktop reading text etc. When it starts struggling like this I'll maybe think about a new gpu.
1.4 is in the Oculus tray tool, i think that is only 40% uplift on standard. 2080 TI looks like its doubling the vega 64 performance in VR - nice upgrade there. Think i will keep my pre-order. Should be able to move the vega for close to what i paid for it.

You are making baseless assumptions - baseless means they are based on nothing.
My assumptions are not baseless, they are based on official statements from Nvidia.

Whether or not you believe Nvidia is completely irrelevant - your assumptions are still baseless, mine are not. For all you know we might see 700 games with DLSS support by Christmas - we may not, but you are simply not in possession of enough facts to support your argument that there will be little support moving forward.

Your assumptions are just as baseless as mine unless you can show me one developer who said they will use it for older games.

I dunno man what I read was this but from a forum;

Pixel Density of 1.0 means 2.5 million pixels

Pixel Density of 1.5 means 6 million pixels

Pixel Density of 2.0 means 10 million pixels

Maybe someone else can shed light on this.

I don't see that as bad at all and it is a good range of games too which gives a more realistic spread.

The gap between the 980Ti and the 1080 is bigger than the 1080Ti to the 2080Ti according to TPU

Compared to 1080Ti
980Ti(65%)@ 1080p
980Ti(57%)@ 1440p
980Ti(54%)@ 4k

Compared to 2080Ti
1080Ti(81%)@ 1080p
1080Ti(75%)@ 1440p
1080Ti(72%)@ 4k

Compared to a 1080
980Ti(76%)@ 1080p
980Ti(73%)@ 1440p
980Ti(73%)@ 4k

Pretty much says it all. These cards are a joke for the money Nvidia wants for them and the 2080 actually loses to a high end 1080Ti more often than not for a higher price and the FE cooler seems pretty trash as well.

He sums it up to exactly my feelings by the time the features these cards boast about mature and become main stream we will be already another generation down the road, these cards are not even close to being worth it unless you have money to burn and don't mind being ripped off.

I never stated any developer made such a statement - so again, your claim is baseless - you are claiming I said something that I never said - it is based on nothing.

What I said was I expect we will see support for older games because Nvidia have stated (so based on a statement not based on nothing like your comments) they will WRITE THE CODE FOR THEM FOR FREE!!! it is a no-brainer for game companies to take them up on this as it costs them NOTHING and they get to provide a BETTER experience for the people who BUY their products.

But again, this opinion is based on something not nothing, yours is based on nothing. We already have about 29 titles with reported DLSS support incoming which again stands to prove your baseless arguments completely wrong.

But I don't care about what the gap is between the 980 Ti and the 1080 Ti...

lol

"My pure speculation is better than your pure speculation!"

Keep up the damage control though. You're not coming across as massively insecure about that pre-order at all. ;)
