"Watson, I do believe I've got it!
Why, cutting onions does often lead to weeping. Some might interpret this reaction as emotional!"

"By Jove, Holmes, you're right. And what a great photo!"

It's official......ducks will not smile for you :( They do however make good tests for my new lens :D Invested in a Canon 50mm 1.8 this morning!

What matters about the placeholders with no image?

It just gives me at least the incentive to get my arse in gear and actually take a picture to put in there!

It's totally pointless.

What the hell's the point of a placeholder anyway? If it's not your true effort, it shouldn't be entered. You don't get a better mark just because you're higher up the thread

Well fair enough, iyo. :p

It's a means of me disallowing myself copping out due to lack of ideas. If I put up a placeholder, I WILL be motivaed to make an effort.

I didn't even consider the fact that being nearer the top of the thread would lead to higher marks, that's plain stupid. Of course it doesn't.

Now someone else has used a similar idea to mine, I think I'll have to really get cracking.

I've been entering since day 1 and never felt the need to use a placeholder. I may put up a picture that I think is valid and then change it later on if I get something better though.

Posted an idea, a draft if you like.

I will almost certainly shoot it again, not really happy with any of it. It was my initial idea, but I have some more knocking around.

i can understand a placeholder with a pic there just incase you don't get chance to re shoot, but a box saying 'placeholder' is completely, and utterly a waste of time, and did i mention - annoying?

Posting a placeholder seems quite counter-productive to me - when you post your final piece the thread doesn't show as having new posts so you're less likely to get feedback on it in the discussion thread.
