OcUK Photo Comp - Season Five : Round Five - "Emotion" DISCUSSION

I'll have finished judging by tomorrow i think :)

Maybe we should have a competition where everyone has to use phone cameras? No set theme, but just challenging everyone to be more creative in how they use their camera :)

Sounds like a good idea to me, something differant, and if you have a look about some folk are creating very impressive photos with little 1mp camera-phones. (Nokia 8800 camera is quite poor, but I need an excuse to check it works.)

You would have to get rid of the technical marks if we did that. I've yet to see a camera phone with manual controls and the quality between them varies massively.

It is a very cool idea, back to basics.

Actually your camera type is taken into consideration when judging. This is the reason for the Make/Model rule. :)

Sounds like a great idea. Even if its not an official round I reckon it would make a fun mini-comp.

Of course. Its just I don't know a huge amount about phone cameras relative to proper cameras.

So say, if I see a noisy photo from a D70* I know not to mark down as its not really the photogs fault.

Yet if I see a slightly out of focus picture from a N80 is it the photographers or the cameras fault?

I still agree its a very good idea for a mini round.

*Sorry, had to be done.

phone cameras ? pffffff, that means those with a D900 or k750i/k800i will get sharper images.

I say make it TOTALLY equal, all use disposibles :p

Now that's a level playing field :p

third'ed for "The Disposable Camera Comp"

We'll try phones first, as disposables just means it'll cost money to buy them, then they need developing, and scanning :) But it's an idea for the future!

I wanna try the disposable camera comp too. It's still stupidly expensive to use film though. You'd think they'd make it cheaper to get people using it again!

When you buy some disposables it covers the cost of developing etc for around £4-6 all in iirc there are b/w ones too.
