Hi All,

I recently purchased a HIS Radeon 5970 from OcUK.. Every time I turn my machine on I dont get any display. Windows loads in the background I just get no picture. I have to reboot and then try again for the screen to come on. Sometimes as much as 5 times.

However OcUK have tested it and this is what they have said:

Here is the technicians Test Report:

"Graphics card passes all Tests with no issues, Tests Run: Crysis WarHead, Furmark, 3Dmark Vantage, Farcry, World in conflict, MSI Kombuster, Resident Evil Benchmark, ATI Mecha, ATI Ladybug, Streetfig"

(Graphics card passes all Tests with no issues, Tests Run: Crysis WarHead, Furmark, 3Dmark Vantage, Farcry, World in conflict, MSI Kombuster, Resident Evil Benchmark, ATI Mecha, ATI Ladybug, Streetfighter Benchmark and heaven benchmark tool, these were all tested at 1920 x 1200 resolution running maximum settings, tested on DX9, DX10 and DX11 where applicable, there was no issues apparent. Card has been on extended test and posted every time. Card has been posted 50 times)

So why do I get no picture when I turn on with my system?? W.T.F!!

This isn't a completely unknown issue - its been posted about atleast twice on here before - but I'm not sure if a fix was ever found - it seems specific to certain hardware configurations.

Just about to say that the only thing OcUK haven't mentioned. I was running it on 120hz.. on a Samsung 2233RZ.. It should still give me a display when I first turn on though. And why doesnt it eventually work if I keep rebooting? eh!

Have you tried logging in windows anyway? Like typing your password and pressing enter? With 3 monitors plugged in, sometimes they go a bit funny when booting, all three will display the post, then the left will go blank after post, then when windows loads, the right one goes blank and the left one comes back on. Then sometimes when it's at the login screen, all three displays are blank, I have to turn my right monitor off and on again for the login screen to show.

I've never really been sure what the problem was as my right monitor has been a bit dodgy at times with my PC posting (definitely not a graphics card problem though, this one seems to be caused by its USB hub).

My right monitor sometimes causes my PC to not progress past post, it sticks on "detecting USB devices" or something along those lines.

what cable are you using to connect to your monitor? I have had problems with my card (4870) in the past and so have a few others when using a cheap HDMI cable.

Edit: you may get suspended for trying to sell your card on the graphics card section of these forums. You need to have more than 250 posts and then you can access the members market to buy and sell pc related items

if you're selling then use MM. Posting in here will get your post amended by mods.
Tough one on that though, it's a great card.

What motherboard PCIe slot have you put the graphics card in?

Also, have you definitely connected both of the PCIe Power connections up correctly?

Have you tried hooking it up to another monitor or TV?

What connection are you using and have you tried the others?

Im using the first slot. PCIE_1.

Would it be a problem if I put it up for buy it now on eBay and posted the link here?!? I mean come on.. Ive just spent £450 on a card and it doesnt even work in my system. All bought from OcUK

I dont have a login.. it just boots straight into Windows. So no, it doesnt come on when windows loads. and even if I turn the monitor off then on again, I have to press the power button so windows shuts down then reboot as many as 5 times in hope that ill get a display.. Another thing is that when it does eventually work. It takes a good 10-15sec from me powering on for the computer to post. Like a big delay before post

Rob not sure what connector your using but some ati cards have issues setting the right voltage at post using display port, I have also read about issues with using display port cables which are too long.

If you are using dvi then just ignore me, just another thing to try before you give a great card up.

Funny is the way you're trying to imply the card is faulty even though OcUK tested it as working. Then you're trying to sell it for more money than it's worth (because you paid more, like anybody cares). Oh, and you're trying to blame OcUK products because the card isn't working for you. That's funny.

How about you calm down, try different power connectors, different PCI-E slots, make sure the card fits in well. Try different display cable, display output, monitor/TV screen. And don't panic, you're not a woman (there's no women on the Internetz).
