I kinda feel sorry for this guy.

Off-topic thou, I would love to have the OcUK tech job, lol, "testing" 5970 cards on Crysis and Far Cry.

Lol, any Don here? I'll work for free.

Have you got another system you can try it in?

Also, do you have a different monitor or TV you could try it with? Do you have a DVI to VGA converter to hand?

Do you have another graphics card to hand to check that your system is fully functional?

Are both the 6 pin and 8 pin PCIe power connectors from the PSU properly inserted into the card?

Card plugged into the PCIx16_1 (blue) slot right? as this is not the top one.

I dont have another system I can try it in.. Yes its in the blue slot PCIEx16_1 (which is the top slot on my motherboard). Both 6 pin and the 8 pin pci-e power connectors are plugged in. The 8 pin one is just another 6pin one with the 2 extra extension pins you join on the end yes?

Yes, all good here if it's secured in place.

There's no need to be so personal this gentleman is trying to help you and all you can do is tell him to go away.

How about you do what has been advised and you might find that your card works.

An attitude like you have is the right one to get you suspended/banned.

Help me? saying the card is not worth 450 which is less than what I paid for it? saying im crying? and blaming ocuk? wtf..? I have never said any such things tbh I am up to my eyeballs in work and dont have the time at the minute to test things as the card has just been posted from OcUK i dont have it back yet.. and im up to my eyeballs in work. :(

Ive got a 7900GT which has been working fine in the same slot.. which is what im running it on now. But thats not 120hz.. Dont have any other display cables im using the one I got with the samsung 2233rz.. only one u get i believe

guys I dont have the card back yet I just got the email from OcUK saying its not faulty and is being returned at my expense.

But yes I do have a Sharp HDTV but I dont think the 5970 has a HDMI out? I think you just get an adaptor do you not?

If you're not happy, send it back under DSR, whatever dude. I would manage some time to find the fault if I spent £450 on the graphics, but that's just me.

I may be off the mark here but I had a similar problem with my system using a a lowly 8600GTS and Samsung 2032BW that had worked fine for ages. Started of intermittently so I lived with it until it finally gave up giving any display at all.

It turns out it was the DVI cable that was the culprit. It had probably been bent to much by the rear of my system pressing on the wall but when I tried a VGA cable it was fine as was the unusually short DVI cable a friend gave me.

Ah, Ok well you can do all these tests when you get it back.

I would strongly suggest you spend an hour trying to get it to work before you have to sell it on and make £100+ loss.

Please give us a shout when you do get it back and we will happily give you some pointers.

As for connecting up to your HDTV, the card should come with a grey DVI to HDMI adapter.

I had a similiar problen a while back and had the HIS 5870 tested and returned with no fault so i did my own tests aswel as help from my local IT shop. The problem for me was a faulty motherboard and PCI-e x16 slot which wasn't delivering enough power to the card.

However mine would boot from time to time and get into windows but it would never stop half way like yours.

P.S a while ago i read somewhere on another forum that there were compatibility issues with the P6 motherboards and Corsair PSU's, might wanna check it out.

There has been faults like this before, a common fix has been removing some of the ram modules so I suggest playing around with ram, try different configurations, slots amounts etc.

I also suggest you give this thread a read. The video card had the same issues your having and it turned out the problem was with the motherboard or PSU (also a Corsair, a coincidence?).

:(

When I receive the card back, I will check the DVI cable and check the BIOS ram settings? As far as im aware there just set on 'X.M.P' (Corsair Dominator GT 1600Mhz). Havent really bothered with any tweaking yet as I dont have a graphics card..

Please keep an eye out for this thread lads I will post test results when I receive the card back. Thanks for your input

You're going to need to do a complete check of all your PC parts, as thoroughly as possible. As has been mentioned, what looks like a graphics issue can be anything. If you think about it, there are loads of issues that could cause display issues and it not be the graphics card.
