:(

When I receive the card back, I will check the DVI cable and check the BIOS ram settings? As far as im aware there just set on 'X.M.P' (Corsair Dominator GT 1600Mhz). Havent really bothered with any tweaking yet as I dont have a graphics card..

Please keep an eye out for this thread lads I will post test results when I receive the card back. Thanks for your input

When I was talking about the ram I meant physically removing the modules one by one and seeing if the card will display.

Yeh, I'm going to get to the bottom of this.. Cos this is absolutely shocking. I just blasted out 5 mile on the treadmill I am that narked off.

Is there any way I can test the power supply PCIE connectors to see how much voltage is coming through or not?

How would that determine wether I get a display or not when I turn the machine on? and the fault is intermittent. So it would be kind of hard to know if it is actually a specific module or not. But I cant see how that would effect getting a display? If it was faulty ram, it wouldnt boot? regardless of my graphics card?

If you don't want to get out a multimeter, the best way to test them is to swap the cables out. The HX 850 comes with a spare set of PCIe cables, the chance of a fault in two different cables is very slim.

you say you have your RAM set to xmp. You have to be careful with this setting as it can cause instability. BCLK adjustment is the best way to overclock as it will set up all the other parameters for your motherboard including your ram

if you want to overclock with your i7....disable XMP and adjust your bclk, this will set up your RAM you can adjust ram speed after if required.. then check your QPI/Vtt voltage. set to 1.2 for just now

As I have said this isn't a new issue and it has been fixed by swapping the Ram around (I don't know why the Ram causes the card not to display, might be an issue with a certain manufacturer).

1) Turn your computer off and take off the side panel.
2) Remove all but 1 stick of the ram modules.
3) Turn the PC back on and see if displays.
4) If it doesn't the module in another socket. Then try another ram module.

And read this link, this guy had the same problems as you and fixed it.

Iv had the same issues as you, both with a 8800gtx and a 5870, I thought it was the motherboard but ended up being a compatibility problem with the psu.
If the above doesn't help with the ram, do you know anyone with a psu you could test it with?

The thread I lined to above the guy managed to get his card working with an cheapo PSU, it might be worth a try.

Try playing around with the monitor analog/digital mode settings, you'd be surprised at how often exactly this turns out to be the issue mate.

its your setup thats at fault mate not ur card,if your not willing to try diffrent pci, diffrent cables ect.then you shoudnt be near a pc

I had this problem with my 5850 for ages, not booting when first switching the machine on it really cheesed me off. Sometimes it would work of for weeks and sometimes it would give problems every time I switched the machine on although once booted it was fine..

Anyway, it turned out it was my surge protector going bad, it couldn't handle the initial current drain at boot, even pressing the reset switch wouldn't help I had to fully power down the system and try again.

If you have the machine conntected to the mains via a surge protector I'd plug it straight into the wall for testing. You never know it might be the same problem as me.

simple answer to this is the monitor eide file in your os is trying to run this tft in a higher rez than it can hence the no signal

you need to plug the gpu into a crt or a branded screen so that windows can write a new plug and play monitor driver

if you boot in safe mode with the vga save driver you can get into windows and you will notice that then monitor driver will be ungeneric driver = windows doesnt have a clue

power strip can write a custom monitor eide file with the correct settings (if you know them).

my thread on the problem and how to fix

I came across this fix today for black screen 120Hz and it seems that if you remove CCC and just use the driver, this solves the problem with the refresh rate of 120Hz monitors.

no harm in trying this.

PS. I found your monitor on a AMD blacklist for problems with "Catalyst Control Centre".

Yes, but his card wont post ;)

silly question I know, but my TFT screen likes kicking itself into a standby sort of mode (backlight is on) but no picture
it don't do this all the time, all I do is turn the monitor off than on again.... I know its sounds really really dumb, but have you tried it....sometimes its the least expect that is the cure..... it mostly does it when just going on to a game or changing settings or res....or just installed drivers.
