OCUK Rolling Road Day 11 @ Eurospec (Guildford) - Sat 19th March 2011

I'm not going to pay 33% of the cars value to insure it. £2k is fine, £5k no way.
Of what relation is the value of a vehicle to the price of insurance?

If you wanted it, you could work hard and pay for it. You just don't want it and therefore your original comment about doing anything to have one is false.

I STAND VICTORIOUSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I wouldn't insure a £15k car TPF&T. Just look at that guy that did it with a £10k Elise.

It's silly money. Cheapest real quote I got I think was close to £8000, how can I afford insurance like that year after year?

Sure if I was given a free Mustang I could probably do it as the quotes come down over the years and my purchase money went on insurance - one problem though as no one wants to give me a free Mustang :p

I'd even go as far to say as I'd owe money to own and be able to drive a Mustang now, and it's probably the only thing bar a house I will owe money on in my life hopefully.

My Z3's on TPFT, and FT was only after I got an independent specialist to value it. It was valued at over £10,000.
FC is impossible on cars over 6 years old here. You just deal with it.

Work harder. There are tens of people who could afford to spend £8000 per year on insurance.
Haha! I remember a friend of a friend (Russian oligarch) was going to get an E60 M5 in Central London when they just came out.
They had it on order, but when the insurance quote of £10k came through, they cancelled it. Poor kid had to live with an E46 330i at 18 :(

I'm not going from a 1.4 FWD Fiat to a V8 RWD Mustang worth £15k and only insuring it as TPF&T. Your countrys insurance sucks, you have to deal with it, I don't in the UK.

I doubt I'd get much cheaper or even get any quotes as TPF&T.

There are plenty of reasons to work harder and better yourself, doing so to hand over £8000 to an insurance company to insure what is a fairly cheap car with a V8 engine bolted to it isn't what I'd call a brilliant motivation to earn more money.

Depends how bad you want it, you'd have to want a Mustang really hard to consider spending £8000 insuring the thing.

Damn, was looking forward to mooching around your G60 :(

No idea how it happened but looks like moisture got under the lacquer so the paint has got pimples everywhere, the meet is local so i might come and have a look for an hour or so but i might as well put the money towards repairing it instead of putting it on the RR

That not an Evo 8/9? My bad. I think I took it around end of 2006 (edit: photo time stamp 9/11/06), not too sure on the details. Looked new to me from the pic but my memories of my uni days are quite hazey at best and my ability to distinguish Evo models are, well as you can see, below par ;)

Thats a 99/00 Evo, nothing like brand new! Even allowing for the fact you took the photo years ago, you Gibbo didnt get the Mustang until circa 2007 and it was a late 2005 car.

No thats an Evo 6.

Make your mind up :D

Those two statements do not contradict each other?

He's saying the brand new Evo was parked next to the Mustang. I identified the Evo, explained what year it was likely to be, then 'dated' the photograph by explaining when Gibbo got the Mustang and what year the Mustang was

Hmmm, it seems to me that I thought it was 2001 not 2011, thus my comment on the age (99/00) and the old evo 6 it was.

Should have just gone to bed :D
