OCUK Rolling Road Day 11 @ Eurospec (Guildford) - Sat 19th March 2011

I should purchase a cheap MX5 for the day then! ...that sort of road really isn't what I would call fun to drive in a cruise liner, don't get me wrong, the Jag is more capable than some people think given it's over 5m long, wide as a transit and has an air suspension ...but even so it's hardly natural!

I remember trying to keep up with Howard's Mazda in the New Forest in 2009 with my black Jag, it was easy enough on the straights but ...interesting in the corners to say the least, I didn't think I was going to be able to persuade the Pirellis to hang on in one of those corners at least. In other words, I'll be near the back in my cruise liner wafting, you lot can hoon all you like though.

Actually, maybe I should get some tyres that aren't Pirelli P6000s tbh ...that'd probably be the best bet.

Interestingly though, when you push it a bit the XJ6 handles a bit better than the XJ8, as it doesn't have a V8 engine weighing the nose down, it also responds better to being revved hard, or should I say it feels like it does more good in the V6 where as with the V8 it didn't.

I went for a drive around Dorking today. I'm sure I made my way down your end again today as well Howard. Not fussed about the roads we drive. I might have almost died trying to keep up with Gaijin though ;)

Holy crap that's going to sound epic in person, the quality of the recording leaves a bit to be desired but I know what they sound like anyway ...I'll be begging, borrowing or if absolutely necessssary stealing a ride in that for sure if at all possible :D

Thanks guys, that's just a cat back too. It'll be even more epic once I get my high flow cats and headers fitted.

The cat back was £1200 fitted and is purely for sound. The headers and cats are around £2000 and give a 10% increase in power and torque.

Excellent, doesn't make my Eisenmann look too expensive now :o
Nowhere near as epic as yours though :(

When have you got the headers and cat work planned for?

I think I'm going to have to learn to weld. I'd refuse to pay £1200 for a bit of stainsteel pipework, Even if it did make my car sound like god :(.
