Stick it in top gear and do 70, will give a decent return of ~30mpg surely, you can't drive like a choad all the way there so there is no way it will do 9mpg for the whole 300 miles.

I aint doing a 300 drive at 70mph, at 90mph it'll just about hit 20mpg which aint too bad but it'll soon plumit once I hit built up areas. The tank isnt massive anyway only 70l iirc.

See now I will do the whole journey at 70 just for the economy on such a long journey. The difference between 70mph and 90mph is that at 90 I can see the needle move every few minutes.

It's not being anal about fuel, there's just no point in speeding on motorways. Easiest place to get caught speeding, and 20min saved isn't worth the difference in fuel economy to me. Plus noise almost triples in my car in those different speeds ! Damn Nur Spec R
