OCUK Rolling Road Day 11 @ Eurospec (Guildford) - Sat 19th March 2011

Cracking time, thanks again guys especially to the passenger pilos in their wonderful cars. Fantastic job on the organistation and thanks again Kosta!!!!

The most impressive cars for me were Booners Z4M and Neils Mental Elise. I might have been holding on for dear life, phenomenal cars......... and nice to feel some torque :(:D Also loved the feeling of VTEC with no roof !!

Great banter today (I received enough :p) and everyone seemed very happy to mingle and perv over some gorgeous metal.

Final note, can't wait to feel and hear Princeys car when the Supercharger and headers are on, the car is stunning as is with the ruler flat power curve and will be even better once given the new upgrades :D

And yes we did finally leave at 6pm, big respect to the guys hanging around to the bitter end.

Great meet today guys + gals, totally knackered but nice to meet some new faces and old.

Top marks to Kosta for organising the day and I must say top effort from Mark driving over from Belgium! :eek:

By the end of the day my voice was almost gone, mega sore all day and just got more painful as it went on :(

Neil.

OcUK RR's are now truly international. We had representation from Belgium and Ireland (all be it the northern bit) :)

Neil - did you manage to get a clear run through those twisty bits? I saw you out on them giving rides a couple of times but every time I went up/down I was stuck behind some 30mph muppet!

Guys,

Thank you all so much for making this day so successful. Special thanks to those who stayed the whole day, keeping the banter going. I really enjoyed speaking with all you guys today, I've never really been given a chance to do so before, so I thank you for it.

My apologies firstly for the running order mess. It was a bit of a free for all really, I had no idea that whoever signed what form ran in that order until we got there, which of course made getting all the forms filled in the right order hard work, especially when (understandably) some came when they expected to run.

Secondly, I don't apologise for it being an all day event.. because I warned you :p However, I very much concur that the cars could have been done quicker, but due to the staff having banter with us.. I think it makes up for it. Just for an example, from the time Gaijin came off the dyno, to me coming off the dyno after running next, was nearly an hour. My car was not on the dyno for long, but the staff had other things to sort. Part and parcel of the day I think. But the day had many pros to out weigh this I think.

Thirdly, my sincere apologies to all those who asked me to go out in my car! I really did wish to take you all out, but felt that as the organiser I should be on site until everything was wrapped up. But definitely next time!

And I just want to re-iterate how absolutely mind blowingly mental-fast Kosta's scooby is... :/

Thanks Howard! It goes alright doesn't it :D

Lastly... power figures. I already discussed this with some of you, but my feelings are that the figures for flywheel were definitely more of a guess than say Powerstation. They simply did a calculation of the wheel power x rwd/fwd/awd losses and got the flywheel figure. Which unfortunately doesn't take into account different tyres, wheels, wear and tear of bearings etc. Where Powerstation measures the resistances and practically adds it on top - which I feel may be closer?? This is of course my opinion.

But seriously, thanks again so much for coming, all of you! What a great turnout!!

O and Joshy, thanks for not running, your deposit bought me dinner in Guildford :)

Good meet, really enjoyed it. Was great to chat and meet some new faces, and there were some awesome cars. Gibbo: Thanks for the passenger ride in the Evo, felt brutally quick from nothing right up to the top of the revs, and felt amazingly planted and composed. Awesome car :cool:

Oh, and my welds held up ok :D

No problem mate, glad you enjoyed. :)

Make that 6pm, some of us stayed till the bitter end! Didn't leave til 6.15 or so :p (edit, seems this has been mentioned already!)

Echo Drexel above, thanks to Gibbo for a blast in that Evo, awesome machine, also thanks to Skeeter for the (sadly short) jaunt in his 172.

Was a good day, met a few people, no idea who most of the people I was speaking to were, someone will have to put some names to photos :p

No problem at all, not the best roads around there but it gives you an idea of how mental it is without even getting near to its limits. :D

Yep got a few clear runs, think I had one with Bracken (BigglesPip) where a sports bike was trying to keep up through the twisties and had no chance. Got a thumbs up when I pulled over to turn around :D

Neil.

Hi there

For those interested:-

Flywheel figures for the EVO X, all identical car spec:-
Powerstation = 397BHP
TRL Motorsport = 389BHP
Eurospec = 374BHP

Wheel figures for the EVO X, all identical car spec:-
TRL Motorsport = 306BHP
Powerstation = 299BHP
Eurospec = 297BHP

I think from that the wheel figures are all pretty close, so nothing seems out the ordinary there, but the flywheel figures were very suspect, infact they seem on average to be around 5% under-reading considering so many car seemed well under where they should be.

Thanks to Kosta for arranging it was a good day, just a very long one for me and I think I shall sleep well tonight. :)

Sorry did not give a huge amount of passenger rides but hope those who did get one that the EVO met or exceeded expectations. :)

Thanks to Booner for the ride in the Z4M, very nice indeed, very impressive car. :)

That other EVO X FQ-360 was quite a surprise only making 326BHP compared to my 374BHP, so I got 50BHP additional with just an exhaust? I have a feeling that other EVO X was maybe a bit poorly or maybe when its got 50,000 on the clock it will make more horses. :D
