OCUK Rolling Road Day 11 @ Eurospec (Guildford) - Sat 19th March 2011

Yep got a few clear runs, think I had one with Bracken (BigglesPip) where a sports bike was trying to keep up through the twisties and had no chance. Got a thumbs up when I pulled over to turn around :D

Neil.

We had that horrible i10 infront of us on the way out, but on the way back the traffic did seem to have disappeared.

I was giggling/holding on like mad :D

I think from that the wheel figures are all pretty close, so nothing seems out the ordinary there, but the flywheel figures were very suspect, infact they seem on average to be around 5% under-reading considering so many car seemed well under where they should be.

*snip*

That other EVO X FQ-360 was quite a surprise only making 326BHP compared to my 374BHP, so I got 50BHP additional with just an exhaust? I have a feeling that other EVO X was maybe a bit poorly or maybe when its got 50,000 on the clock it will make more horses. :D

afaik the Dyno Dynamics RR measures transmission loss on coastdown too ?

not sure why it would be under reading. Given the similar wheel power, it would appear to be doing so for flywheel hp in your case.

They weren't measuring a coast down, they were applying a formula to the wheel figures..

Yeah but the wheel figures for some cars did seem odd as well, for instance Princey's Monary was only 310 at the wheels, wheras it should be 340-350 wheel horsepower.

So on the whole an odd dyno and certainly not consistent.

For all our whinging Powerstations dyno is at least consistent and at the very most only over-reads flywheel figures by 1-2% but does seem a lot more consistent and they run the cars a damn site quicker too. :)

Still was a good day out, apart from the M40 closure and epic traffic, enjoyed it and lots of fabulous cars, but wished I'd have seen the GT3 and got a ride in that. :(

It does make me wonder if any of the cars that showed a significantly out fly figure had the wrong transmission loss adjustment applied (e.g., if they ran immediately after a 4wd car, did the 4wd adjustment get applied by mistake?).

Be interesting to look at the ratio between their wheel and fly figures and compare them with other cars.

I don't get at all why they'd just apply an arbitrary adjustment and not do a coast down. Surely just applying a fixed adjustment to the figures is way too crude.

I've just looked at my 2 previous RR graphs for my car.

Both times I had about 125whp~ which was 180bhp~, this time I got 136whp but 165bhp......

Looking at it I'd be inclined to read the whp as the reliable one. Since last time I've recently had a service and my zorst fitted, and going by torque and whp I gained 10 of both.

Going on bhp I lost 15, but both my other RR's did a run down.
