OcUK Rolling Road Day 20 @ Ti Motorsport (Stoke) - Saturday 29th October 2016

What sort of torque did your 335i get, do you think you'll break 400bhp with the intercooler and downpipes? I must admit you've tweaked my interest in the MHD flasher :)

It made 420lb/ft at peak but then fell off a cliff, it was very dieselesque - very restricted at the higher RPMs. I hope the DP will help with this issue a little.

And yes, with the more aggressive map and the downpipes I think it will smash 400 tbh. Especially with cool air ;)

Did they know they had issues with traction and the heat in the room was an attempt to put some heat into tyres to help grip?

They were spraying WD40 on to errr....help with grip :D

Apparently this softens the tyres up a bit.

I'm not moaning though, they got two good runs with my car and made more than I expected!

Looking at the C5 RS6 figure and owning a duplicate a few years ago - The inlet temps were way too high and the timing was being pulled if the statement about the 5000rpm drop off is accurate.

Even with really bad dyno prep (sat idling for 10mins) but with good airflow I managed 470hp from my 500hp MRC map on Surrey Rolling Road which is always a harsh one (and MRC readings are known to be a little high on their own dyno by about 3-5%).

I'm a little glad I couldn't make it now, there is no way I'd put mine on a dyno with the bonnet down and no airlflow to the intercoolers, no way.

powerstation didn't use straps either

Are you sure about that, as I remember having to find my towing eye every time I went?

Were there no fans then to create air throughput?
They had a front fan that took air from outside and a small fan the just got air from in that room to blow on intercoolers.

The exhaust extraction was pretty pans as well as with some cars the flexible extraction pipes were just blown away from the exhaust.

Was there a sense that the dyno was holding the cars back, ie they were taking longer for a run than would be expected from other rolling roads?

This would explain some of the high torque values seen for the turbo cars as the loading from the slow run would help the turbo spool, but the increasing combustion temps would then cause the timing and boost to be pulled back at the top end.

I don't remember anything being strapped at PS, don't think I'd ever been to a PS day with you running though?

Glad to hear you agree with my theory on the RS6 rather than it being rather broken, had no issue when I told them I wanted the bonnet up and everyone else seemed to follow suit after that
