OcUK RX5700 and RX5700XT review thread

Its mid rage at best, and isn't leaps and bounds faster than GCN cards. overclocking seems to offer very little to.

Overclocking is broken. Most of the reviews are saying this. It's also using a blower cooler and throttling in those that did. A decent cooler and better drivers should in theory fix this.

Navi disappoints on many fronts performance wise, its a mid range card at best. price point is ok but it gets beaten by the 2070s in most but a few games. the VII remains AMD's top card to date. this can be seen as a vega 56 vega 64 replacement with quite a small considering 2 years later performance hike.

over all its no NV killer.

Where are you seeing that?

It beats the 2070, Seen it beat the 2080 in BF5 too. With driver optimization and dev using the arch these could be beasts.

Great alternative to green goblin cards at a decent price.

3700X / 3900X are amazing and these cards actually are decent. AMD on fire atm xD

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-5700-xt/35.html
  • Large performance improvement, beats RTX 2070, nearly as fast as Radeon VII
  • Decent pricing
  • Power efficiency improved
  • Backplate included
  • Microsoft Xbox Game Pass for PC included for three months
  • PCI-Express 4.0
  • 7 nanometer production process
  • Support for DSC 1.2a, enables 8K 60 Hz
  • FidelityFX & Radeon Anti-Lag

Well, if you are ignoring Techpowerup's figures because they are Nvidia biased, surely you have ignore Adored's figures because he is AMD biased?

Most of the reviews have temps higher than 80 degrees.

eteknix review said exactly the same about the cooler (and compared it to NV`s FE coolers), wait till the custom cards come out very soon for higher sustained boosting and a lot quieter. Even hinted at RTX 2080 beating performance.

Exactly, you always have to wait with AMD, then you can get really good cards with custom coolers, really good driver support and issues solved just don't buy on launch. In 6 months these cards will be really good value.

Lol, the custom cards will no doubt be lil beasts. These aren't bad at all for the money.

Look forward to seeing AMD bigger cards and the 2080 Ti Super. Maybe they can tempt me back to high end GPU..

The only problem is that the custom cards will be more expensive.

You will have to wait until next year for the AMD high end card. And, the 2080Ti super is already out, it's called the Titan.

To quote OC3D review:

With attractive pricing, a bold feature set and plenty of performance wrapped up in a package that will neither double as a space heater nor cause your electricity supplier to be able to retire to Bali, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT are a match for any card in their price bracket and win our OC3D Gamers Choice award.

Welcome to 2019 - AMD are back (which is only a good thing for the consumer after years of price gouging).

Which is identicle to Nvidia - Founders Edition cards, overpriced with new drivers every 10 minutes to `solve` a broken feature or fix hardware problems like fans turning off. Nv drivers under windows 10 have been utterly horrific.

Bit naughty just posting the Pro's Boom don't ya think? For clarity the Con's;

  • Noisy in gaming
  • Overclocking is complicated
  • Driver bugs
  • High temperatures
  • No support for ray-tracing acceleration
  • No idle fan stop
  • High multi-monitor power draw
  • CrossFire no longer supported

Agreed. The foundry blower cards are for early adopter mugs, both companies.
