OcUK Ryzen 2000 series review thread

The 8700k is still clearly the better gaming chip.

Depending on resolution either very close or a good margin gap for the 8700k.

Still for me it's much easier and economical to get the 2700x than a new platform based on a 8700k.

If your doing a bit of everything including gaming and running professional suites then the 2700x might be better than the 8700k.

But for pure gaming the advantage is still with the 8700k.

It doesn't look to me like they do?

Huh? They have a massive difference and it outperforms Intel. No other sites has results like that. However according to the comments:

We ran our tests on a fresh version of RS3 + April Security Updates + Meltdown/Spectre patches using our standard testing implementation.

If that is true then that is massive news that Meltdown/Spectre makes that much difference.

Looks like the refresh has cost Intel its big gaming lead, its either non existent now or slim - meanwhile the multithreaded side has grown.
7820 is now in danger of being made completely pointless as well

More than likely the case, i would doubt the other reviewers have gone to the trouble of patching vulnerabilities on their rigs, as i guess a lot of gamers wouldnt either.
Well more fool them, but all the reviews should be done with all the current patches in place.

Will be interesting to see what Annandtech say about there figures, while the rest of the reviews look pretty good for the chip the Annand ones look too good.

Anandtech have applied the Spectre and Meltdown Patches
is performing the benchmarks in the target situation ,and equal .
Testing with Spectre and Meltdown Patches Applied

For our testing on the new AMD Ryzen 2000-series processors and the Intel processors, we enabled the latest version of Microsoft Windows with the latest updates and also BIOS microcode updates to ensure that the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilites were as patched as could possibly be. This means that some of the data used in this review is not comparable to previous reviews, however in time we expect our benchmark database to be up to date with these patches.

Way to go AMD. We're witnessing one the most dominant companies in the technological world (intel) losing its grip due to sheer laziness, what a time to be alive!

losing its grip maybe is not intels problem.intel havent lost anything.amd have slightly upped multi performance thats it.intel chips in every sector faster.they must be quaking in their boots.

Seems a little bump over Ryzen for gaming but behind 8700k, by a fair bit still in some games.

All core overclock seems a bit disappointing as well? Not sure what people’s expectations were.

lol your hilarious, how much do you get paid by Intel to scour forums and constantly praise them?

no i get its new but look at what it is nothing much more than ryzen then look at the comment i replied to amd basically crushing intel.when the truth is intel has a faster chip in every section so no big news.

funny thing is as i have stated before numerous times i have intel and ryzen systems.so no bias.just honest.
