OcUK Ryzen 9 3950X review thread

Yes, well actually I had intended to pick up a 2920 rather than jump on new stuff as it is too much for me but all the 2xxx seem to have gone discontinued in the last week  Seems weird if the new chips have no backwards compatibility.

Well, X399 is now a dead system so not surprising really.

I had a bit of a feeling it was going to happen. I think it's still pretty decent it ran for two gens.
I sold my X399 based system when I decided not to upgrade to the 2950, realised mainstream 16 cores would be available (I have no requirement for any more) and didn't need that many cores for a while, and thought there was chance either this might happen or new boards would simply work better with the latest CPU's.
I'll sit out this generation I think. 3950x looks great but I had to upgrade one system back in May so keeping with that one for all round use (9900K)

Are the new TR ddr ECC only?

Nope if you take a look in the Ripper section on OcUK you will see the new thread rippers and their full specification including prices. ;)

They are quad channel and in our testing optimal speed is 3600MHz just like Ryzen 3 will quad channel benefit.

They are also 4.5GHz boost clock and it’s all core boost and they seem to do it as well from our limited testing.
