[OcUK Staff Builds] rjkoneill's FT01

cheers - it really didnt take that long to do
much easier to build in and make tidy than the other popular cases i build in at work - i might speak with Yewen and see if he fancies adding this case as an option to the custom builder

yeah the panel does go on easy - there is a bit of room behind here
no need for a modular psu with this case at all

will get a shot of that in a bit

great thx

here is my system no after tonights alterations...

elbow fitting on the top of the pump [bubbles all gone now - will fill it right up once its bled properly]

black feser - looks LOADS better imo

also just popped my E8600 E0 in there

getting a GTX 280 tomorrow

Love that case. One of the nicest I have seen in a long time, and not badly priced either. Only thing that concerns me slightly is I have read a couple of reviews that didn't rate it too highly for air cooling.

v nice idd m8, hmm *looks at wallet*

Its a great case - not ideal for watercooling
but BRILLIANT for air
i dont know who reviewed it as bad for air cooling - but they are very very wrong

it is one of the best aircooling cases imo - i see all the usual cases everyday at work and nothing comes close tbh bar maybe a 1200 - and thats not exactly anywhere near this build quality wise

with my fan controller the fans in this are barely audible

if i put it on high - still not much of a volume increase

those two big fans do a great job of cooling the hardware down

my northbridge temps have lowered by 13'C average at 100% prime load since switching from my old cosmos

just done a big games session and 3 hours of prime

CPU temps havent gone above 48'C with all fans on low for all that time

Looks superb - couldn't the cables behind the MoBo tray be tidied up though? Just tightened up and add a few more cable ties?

I know nobody will ever see them but it'd bug me knowing that despite it looking perfect from one side there was a tangle on the other! Sorry if I'm OCD'ing :p

Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for that! Can't remember which review I read that stated the air cooling wasn't great, but I do remember reading Anand's review of it in which they stated that the graphics card suffered a little. Perhaps that was their particular configuration though.

It really is a lovely case, and something I would definately consider, especially at it's current price point.

especially at it's current price point.
agreed - it is incredible value for money imo

as for tidying up the cables behind - 'see no evil-hear no evil'

im not too fussed as long as every cable is behind the motherboard tray
they fit nicely - its refreshing to see a case that works well with a non modular psu

heres some pics of my rig as it stands

i think the nvidia price drop must have got to me... :D

thanks mate!

if you like this... why not check out the 'OcUK build log' thread

there are quite a few of my systems in there

in other news - just finished pushing my new 280

a massive improvement over the 9800gtx

P14188 3DMarks

edit*
P15079 3DMarks

got it up to around 710 on the core

put the fan on full and whacked up the fan controller on the case

kept the card nice and cold - 50'C on the core
[60'c with the higher clocks - much higher if i turn the case fans right down

a testament to the case imo ;)

Dude, you've inspired me!

First post here (whoo! XD), I usually post on the SLI Zone forums, however after talking to a mate about cases and being directed here (which I didnt know existed :P) I have joined!

So yeah, a mate ad I were talking about cases, and when I saw this one I loved it right from the start. It definately looks like an awesome case, and your praise has simply put it even higher, so I reckon im gonna buy it :D

My mate was saying that due to it being a mid tower it would be almost impossible to WC, so thanks for proving him wrong! XD
I think I might give it a go at WC when I get it!

I have also been looking at getting a fan controller for a while, and your Zalman looks really good! I do have a question about the connections though, like how easy is it to hook up? I was thinking of mounting my rad on the back using the rear exhaust fan, so was wondering if the cables would reach all the way to the front fan controller.

But htis case looks better and better every time I look at it, and the management inside looks superb! You've seriously done a nice job here! I hope I can get mine to look this good! XD

(wow, long post :P)

Claimed ^

And I have to agree. Stunning stuff. :)

thankyou - i would like to think that the effort ive put into this has been echoed in the standard ive built your system too - im very jealous - it should perform very very well

;)

Amazing work rjkoneill

thanks - still got some things to add/change - will keep it updated as i go -

got a very good idea but dont know how it will work in practice so im going to test it out before i do it on my case... stay tuned!

Think I will ask for you to personally build my rig for me when I order at the end of January!!

no problem mate - give ocuk a call when you order it and ask to speak to Rich - then i will know to look out for your build :D

what you thinking of going for?

It will be an i7 rig that one thing I'm sure of. Not sure if I should go down the water cooling path or not?

When you ship watercooled rigs is the fluid in the system or would I need to do that on delivery of the rig?

Also I know Windows 7 will be out soon ,I wonder if I should wait for that to be released and have that installed on the new rig.

I asked a couple of questions in the buil log thread, would you be so kind as to answer them when you have 5 minutes free please?

Thanks again. :) I think if it turns out a tenth as good as it looks I'll still be over the moon. :D

It's clear you've got a lot of talent for this. So I'm glad to have you building it. :)

got some new stuff
just waiting for an i7 mounting plate for my waterblock
then i can get it built and benched!!!

Locky reccomended this batch - 3838B
its a Costa Rica chip - dont get them too often - but his does 4.2GHz - so i thought i would go down that route
