optical drives are horrible and spoil the front of cases
it means managing internal cables
i hate cables - plus i have a nice samsung external on my desk. does the job for the tiny amount of use it gets

the change to the 480 put 10'c on my load temps for the cpu.

im currently trying to figure out a way of sorting it out without it looking ugly

Wouldn't it be possible to fit a 120.2 rad at the front?
But loop order right be a bit tricky!

How many rads do you have the build now rjkoneill? Just the one 4 rad in the base?

i think i just need to strip it back and redo it. considering a board change at the moment so will have to see how it goes

If you wanted an optical drive in the front of your case without ruining the look you can take one of the drive bay panels, bend back the mounting brackets, stick on the front of the optical drive, cut new holes in the drive bay so it goes in flush with the front of the case.

Then, stick something ontop of the drive open/close button to bulk it out, so if you press in the corner of your front panel, it opens the drive.

Works perfectly!

Out of interest, what temps are you seeing on your CPU and GPU at load and idle now? Asking because I'm looking at getting a GTX 480 (replace my old 275), and potentially cooling the CPU with water, and then adding in my GPU later (you might have seen my thread

i think MDPC has to be voted for, you cant just submit as far as i know.

I'm loving the UD7 board mate, clocks very nicely and is working better than my old P6T6 WS Revolution. Haven't gone for watercooling on the board this time, quad rad for CPU only instead

Like the colour scheme as well, first time in a while Gigabyte made a good looking board in my opinion!
