[OcUK Staff Builds] rjkoneill's TJ07

awesome build
Thanks for the comments :)

You got any ideas on how tight you can go on the screws?

i have gone as tight as it will go to hold it still then a full turn on each screw in a cross shape. this ensures that the pressure is spread evenly.
its given me a great mount on every occasion i have tried it :)

why are you getting rid of the XSPC tubing?

because every man and his dog has white tubing.
when i first started this log there was little to no projects around the internet with white tubing. simply because nobody made it and it was difficult to obtain in anything other than 3/8.
then when i first found out that xpsc were doing it, fantastic.

I cant stand seeing builds with white tubing now. That boat has set sail, crashed on some rocks, spilled oil everywhere, ruined the coastline and killed everybody.

finally, after months of planning and setbacks I have finally manged to get the new hardware and parts fitted to my system.

10am this morning and I finished at 7pm. :D

really pleased with the outcome this time and I think that I will be drawing the line under this project now.

I will let the pics do most of the talking but will cherp in with explinations if need be.
also please check the video at the end, its not great quality as it was a last minute idea and was shot with an iPhone. but it should give you all an understanding of just how quiet the system is now.
Seriously, I cant even tell its on!

Ripped everything apart and started again...

things are going to be tight. i moved it back so that it had a bit of space to suck air and wasnt right next to the mesh
DSC02182.jpg

had to get creative with fittings to make this work

The Dominator GT will have new heatsinks soon, i plan on getting some of the extended fins but more of that later ;)

really pleased with how this turned out. really neat.
DSC02207.jpg

fitted the last fan and ran out of black screws . will pick some up at work on Monday. also had to use three of the fan extention cables from the fan controller. of course they werent braided so an emergency braiding job was required and completed on all three cables in 20 minutes.
speed braiding is my new speciality :D
DSC02208.jpg

the coolant I used is very good. Mayhem Pre-Mix X1 UV Blue, supplied by the brilliant Mayhems Dye. it looks incredible in the system, the pictures really dont do it any justice at all.

then i installed the final component.
after all the faffing with MurderMod I gave up any hope of ever seeing a luminous panel.
instead i chose a lian li LED strip. took 5 seconds to fit. good times.

thats it for now.

thanks for checking it out

System is looking good dude and the coolant looks very nice :D

thanks dom :)

although I am going to hell for not using the Holy [distilled] Water and spiralling tears of christ [silver coil]

The Glorious PC Watercooling Master Race would not apporve of my heresy.

i guess i will just have to learn to live with that.

no the red fins can stay in the box. the point of this is to not void the warranty of anything and they can be easily replaced back to stock if they go wrong.

i dont really fancy voiding the warranty on a $500 kit of memory :o

so the stickers stay im afraid

because we had 40 in stock

and i purchased every last one of them :)

bitspower fittings are expensive and they dont sell well.
thats why they are hard to get hold of

the ones in my build were essentially ordered specifically for me.

i have had a few fittings from a watercooling shop in the netherlands before too

That computer is really awesome looking.

You probably had this question before in the 18 pages, but anyway, did you design & make the case yourself?

If you did then... that's truly awesome lol, I wish I could do stuff like that.

i wish i could design and make cases like that.
if i could it would be exactly the same but with the bottom compartment for the rads mirrored so that there is one in the roof too.
then three 480 rads would be doable. :D

silverstone are bringing the TJ11 to the table soon but it is a little underwhelming in my opinion.
one can dream ;)
thanks for the comments though

Always love your builds rjkoneill!

This is no less excellent than the others - top job my man!!!

Hey GT
thanks a lot, aint noticed you around recently. good to see the panda again :p

here you see i removed the tube which eventually kinked. i figured that two 90s are less restrictive than a kink and look better too.

its uv blue

im not really sure, he sent me a premix not the dye

it has a killcoil in it and thats it.

i just messed my pants over this build.... again....

dont be doing that, it takes ages to clean :p

thanks for the comments guys.

was planning on adding a second gpu. but cba

im going to leave the system as it is until there is something worth me spending money on.

Awesome build. Loving the colour scheme. Ram looks sweet too.

The fans you are using, are they these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-005-XG&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4

If so, how quiet / noisy are they? What about the amount of air.

they are the fans you linked yes

they push a lot of air at full speed but they are a bit noisy
i run the fan controller at just over a third of the way to max speed on all 6 fans

this keeps them running very quiet and means the LEDs arent too bright.
they still push a good amount of air and keep the system cool.

the past week i have been running the system with the front fans [on the double radiator] switched off. the temps are around the same as they were before [ambients have dropped quite a bit]

seems to be working well and cuts down on a bit more noise too

the system is so quiet i dont know its on half the time

- thanks for the kind comments above too :)
