So what are the temps like on this? :).

the 480 idles at 40'c

i havent put it in games yet. but will be doing a proper test and post results comparing to the 5870

lets just say its made the loop a LOT hotter

rjkoneill is that not noisy with all them fans ?
i removed lots of fans from the original build. there is only 6 fans in the entire computer now.

same as an antec 1200?

but they are much much quieter as they are all on reducers spinning slowly through efficiant radiators. all is well :)

i only have 4x 120mm fans and it is a little on the loud side

what speed are they? my fans are Gelid Silent 12's they are 1000rpm fans that run at around 600rpm

thats why they are quiet. i did plenty of research to make it as quiet as possible

there is a list of the hardware on the first page

make yourself a basket :p

the murdermod panel has been cancelled for the forseeable future. :(

i have spoken to charlesH a few times now and he is doing everything in his power to get this sorted.

basically the long and short of it is that they cant get a fabricator who can produce their products to the standard they wanted.

they have a big thing about it on their website. linky here

bad side of this is that no murdermod panel is arriving any time soon
good side of this is that Charles has refunded me everything and will be providing one free of charge when they get murdermod back on track. [cant say fairer than that really]

so its not all doom and gloom but still far from ideal.

Rich, just leave it now and play some games on it :D

also get that Inet of yours sorted.

lock, you know what im like though. my board has developed a fault so its going to have to be replaced this weekend

new internet is coming mate, just need BT to cooperate with me

sr2 doesnt fit in a tj07
[although t'would be nice ;)]

im replacing it with another rampage II
the blocks on my board look sweet and fit the bill well

the rampage III offers nothing that the II doesnt provide so there is no point me considering it.

i did look at a UD7 but again i dont fancy paying for new blcoks when i already have £200 worth of blocks on my existing board

I like your stunning case! Great finished Rich. Great skill, brainy, brilliant. Of course one problem is I am jealous of your case now :(

thanks bulldog :)

Hmmm ive been looking at the murdermod website, hope they get back on tack soon because im looking to get one them panels your talking about :D They look so shexy, for my upcomming bulid.

i wouldnt wait around for it. as far as i know they arent taking orders at the moment :(

Looking nice :)

No DVD or CD drive?

optical drives are horrible and spoil the front of cases
it means managing internal cables
i hate cables - plus i have a nice samsung external on my desk. does the job for the tiny amount of use it gets :p

Wouldn't it be possible to fit a 120.2 rad at the front?
But loop order right be a bit tricky!
i thiught of that, but didnt want to spoil the looks of the front

I'm beginning to wonder how I will do two of them. We will have to compare notes.
i think i just need to strip it back and redo it. considering a board change at the moment so will have to see how it goes
email my trust if you want to ask anything :)

How many rads do you have the build now rjkoneill? Just the one 4 rad in the base?
its just the quad at the bottom. the double was removed last week

rj: if you're handy with a camera, why not submit to million dollar pc?

im not too great at photography, i reckon i have a good eye for what looks good but i havent get the right equipment to photograph things to that standard.

i think MDPC has to be voted for, you cant just submit as far as i know.

Would like to see a watercooled UD7/TJ07 :D

then see it you shall

I'm loving the UD7 board mate, clocks very nicely and is working better than my old P6T6 WS Revolution. Haven't gone for watercooling on the board this time, quad rad for CPU only instead :D

Like the colour scheme as well, first time in a while Gigabyte made a good looking board in my opinion!

im a big fan of the ud7, the gigabyte X58a range is quite poor at the moment. i dont even want to go into detail about the UD3r rev2
but the ud7 stands out as a consistantly excellent board. OcUK gets fantastic support from gigabyte and thats part of the reason that i decided t make the move.

plus, the rampage III is still very dissapointing in my book. it has nothing that makes it worth the extra money over a REXII.

i have considered EVGA, but i despise their bioses and dont think i could use it for my own system

Nice build mate, but how do all you people seem to get CAD images of motherboards etc... is there some trick I'm missing out on, because making that board on a CAD suite would be pretty time consuming and probably not worth it

the google skethup images were readily available. you just download sketchup and type what you want into the search engine.
i typed 'TJ07' 'thermochill' 'corsair' 'rampage extreme' and it came up with everything i needed. hope that helps :)

Would prefer to see the MSI Big Bang Xpower if I'm honest, but a UD7 will do I suppose..... :p

Didn't you only just get a replacement Rampage 2 for it RJK? Lots of spare money. :D

i considered that board too but it doesnt have any readily available blocks for it. the UD7 blocks will make the tubing routing nice too.

i have only just had a new rampage II but that was an RMA replacement for my original. its actually a slightly better clocker than the first one i had.

the rev 2 is a bit hit and miss imho

like you say, they have cut it down a bit. it would only be worth having if the price is cut to reflect the missing features
whilst i think the waterblock on the giga extreme boards are pap, it is a nice touch that many other manufacturers dont even offer.

[i will of course be slamming a lovely little EK number on mine ;)]

last time gigabyte were in i gave them a list of stuff they need to include on their extreme boards to make them more desirable. they have took notes!

of course i cant really comment on the boards performance until we get a sample
but we do have a new budget gigabyte board incoming which i am very interested in. not for myself ofc.

Good work Rich but it a pity with annoying unwanted IDE on the board!

I'm fed up with IDE. My new gigabyte board came with a floppy socket too.....

Just brings the looks like tbh.

Looking forward to seeing this built RJK. Will you be sticking with just the one GTX480?

agree with that chaps, i expressed my annoyance at gigabyte last time they came to visit me. in fairness they all get their little notepads out every time a suggestion is made.

i wont be going dual GPU, one 480 is more than enough for now. i might get some shiney blocks on it soon though :D

Iirc it's an invite only thing. My 'tiger style' build got an invite but I never got around to taking decent pics of it, just the vid. They have 'reps' who scour the net for top builds. IF you really want to get noticed and enhance your e-peen then XS is perhaps the best place as it is multinational.;)

Love the new blocks Rich :)

thanks & spot on w3bbo, it is invite only and from what i gather, Nils [dualbrain] has the final say on what goes on that site.
you have to be 'voted for'
in all fairness, whilst i do take pride in my own system i doubt that i could build/photograph to mdpc standard. i think MDPC are looking for different and unique builds. and whilst i check all of the boxes when it comes to presentation and high end hardware, when it boils down to it my system is 'Just another TJ07'
the only reason i like doing project logs is to showcase cool hardware and discuss ideas. its always interesting to read constructive input

im trying to get the boss to agree to a project logs & modding section as a sub forum in Case Central. this way all the user worklogs will be found in one place. its somethign a lot of forum members have been asking about for a while

thanks for the comments guys :)

made a couple of minor changes this week

sold my 480 blocks off to someone and got the nickel plexi version so the blocks match my new motherboard

got NathWraith to order me one of these beauties too

WC-080-EK_400.jpg

looking at a few performance upgrades too but i need to do some more testing and research.

the front of the case is going to soon change a bit too
i am putting the doube thermochill in the front of the case to aid airflow and add some extra cooling to the loop [fermi on a single loop is a very very silly idea]

the front of the case will soon be filled with these lian li bezels
DSC01982.jpg

they should allow for a bit of airflow over the rad.

loop order is going to go like this

D5 Pump
Thermochill Quad
Thermochill Double
CPU
Mosfet
GTX480
NB/SB
Res

the lian li bezels are from OcUK. they are not listed on the site but our lian li supplier has them. :)
