No mention of using 3600mhz ram there.

Why do X399 boards have to be so ridiculously expensive?!
And is not the only one. Hardware Unboxed for example, the guy cannot be given some faster ram to test for heaven sake.
His today video has 2990WX vs 7980XE using 3000Mhz and 3200n mhz ram respectively -_-.
While we saw from elsewhere 3600mhz works fine with the TR2 adding performance even compared to 3400mhz.
To be fair those frequencies quite well represent what's possible on most configs without the need for additional tuning. 3400-3600 no TR4 can require some work. Always good to go a couple of notches down from the maximum supported ratio.
They could have used 4000 ratio on X299, but they didn't.
Didn't stop them sending one to LTT though did it.While I was browsing youtube, what strike me was that Jay2Cents didn't had any Threadripper video today, but a video about his daughter.
Surprisingly according to AMD his audience is not for the HEDT market.
Aka, all the pro Nvidia and pro Intel content in his site came to roost.

My current favourite tech YouTubers is Wendal at LevelOne Techs, that guy really knows his stuff I would love to get his analysis and thoughts on the 2990 WX and what it means for the indusry.

So true. I use to watch a few of these YouTubers. Then realised they just have that personality that lets them come across well. In actual fact their content and quality is pretty low and I can get more info quicker elsewhere without having to listen to them.
That aside, they have done well for themseleves so I congratulate them on that.
Could you give me link of Wendal's channel please?
I agree, that is why my first source these days is the german site. They run always extensive tests. Like those HDR vs SDR perf and DX12 vs 11.
Or that Monster Hunt game that tested 20 or so GPUs with their latest drivers, some of which were ancient like R9 390 etc.

Here you go https://www.youtube.com/user/teksyndicate
I've just realised the link says 'teksyndicate', I heard there was some sort of falling out between the owners of 'teksyndicate' some time ago and they went there different ways.
Initial reports for my type of workflows, handbrake, premier pro etc are nothing to write home about. Really quite disappointing actually. 7980XE is walking all over it in a lot of the tests unless you're running a crazy number of simultaneous cpu intensive applications. I want my rig to beast the application I'm working in. I want the quickest render times possible and don't care about running winrar or 7Zip in the background at the same time.
Bet Intel are breathing a rather large sigh of relief.

irrespective who's fault it is, it doesn't change the real world implications, Swiss or otherwise. You mean as long as the programs you use are not able to use the threads it's fine for Intel?
Sounds like swiss cheese thinking.
