OcUK TrackDay: Donnington 22nd August - £135!

Slow in fast out would have done him. Houseys tactic works well when I do karting. Sit on their back bumper. They will out brake themselves and you can go up the inside :D

Just go through the pits and out again so you come out half a lap back? Thats what we were told to do (also letting a marshal know, so they can have a quiet word with them later).

There we're a lot of bad manners on that evening, i was pretty shocked by the poor standards of driving tbf :( i'm used to just driving in a local club where as everyone pretty much knows everyone else the manners are excellent.

The old orange/red Porsche and that S2000 were clearly out for a Sunday drive, luckily i didn't come across that R26, but i did almost get completely taken out by a black and orange saxo at turn 5 just before the bridge, he had to completely mount the curb and cut inside me without any warning!

But apart from that it was an amazing track once i got some clear air, i got a few decent pics which i'll upload when i get home.

Yeah I know, the R26.R was quick, no doubting that and I like them a lot, but holding people up is not on. If I see a car gaining on me and I am on it myself, I slap my indicator on, back off and give them plenty of room to pass so I don't spoil their track time. That from what I understand of such event and the rules in the breifing is what your supposed to do.

The S2000 I don't know what he was doing, he did not seem to accelerate, he just seemed to do all the corners at 40-50mph and the straights at 60mph, was a bit baffled actually by how it was driven as they were not even trying to go fast, the speeds they were doing they did not even need brakes.

Yeah but again you can only overtake with consent and to be honest I don't think this guy was willing to move for anyone, he just had an ego issue.

Fixed for accuracy.

There was two according to Book a track.

I have to say though, I didn't really understand the appeal of caterhams and the like but I liked what I saw that day. Looked great fun and watching them beat cars worth four times as much is quite awesome. :p

Try and bag a passenger ride in one with someone who can drive and you'll see soon enough.

It's an experience that's for sure.

Agreed, there were some shocking people out there, going far to slow to be on line and showing no intention to move over.

I toyed with the idea of an 'illegal' pass a few times but didn't want to risk losing any more track time after arriving a bit late.

I'll definitely be driving the next one, but the question is do I bring the LCR back out or do I buy another e36.

As much as I liked the LCR on track I'm incredibly bored with FWD.

lol what :(

To be fair though they are pretty tricky to drive on the limit

Same here tbh, never seen one being properly driven in anger on track.

Shame really, they're very capable cars, so I'm told.

You should come to one of our days and show them how it's done. Saxos shouldn't be lapping S2000s IMO!

I was there in 2007 on the Merlin, Housey and co OCUK track day :D Merlin's 330Ci and Housey had his 911.

5 years flies :(

On the subject of s2000's on track there is a TERRIFING video on youtube of a bloke going mental with one and it losing the back end all over the place.
It seemed like he basically either had it "set up" and ruined it, or they are rubbish and the back end breaks away everywhere.
Must be the former....
On a later video he smashed it, I'll try dig it up later.

There is a guy who has a superchargered one as his track car, he's mental too youll find some vids of it going around knockhill :D Although he's not crashed one and also has a GTR as his daily car.
