** OCUK TWITCH STREAM PUBG TOURNAMENT DISCUSSION THREAD **

Seems odd people complaining about the competition being open to non-established forum members after people also complained that the last one wasn't promoted well enough (and presumably didn't have too many participants).

The inhouse custom games that were run, did they ever get a full server? And now you're expecting to get 4 full games worth of people from the forums?

A lot of the people complaining have said they wouldn't be entering anyway, so what does it matter to them?

Enforcing UK only though seems tricky, especially if you're relying on e-mail address.

It would need the PUBG devs to enable an IP geo-enforcement in their custom games preferences (unless ocuk do some manual policing). So unlikely that this is going to be policed properly and it's not really a super legit tournament with huge prizes. I don't really mind either way, it's good to be up against proper gamers. Even better if your team wins it.

If the team in first place has players from outside the UK in (and we'll know when we ask for addresses to deliver the prizes to) then the prizes will go to the second place team, and if they have players from outside the UK in the 3rd place team, etc. ect.

Looking forward to seeing how the amateur teams hold up against some of the pro's.

All it takes is a lucky grenade and immortal glory is yours forever! Think of the salt...

Also last time some of our players were excellent, Ingr4m I'm looking at you

One thing I will say about non UK players is that due to the way the lag compensation in this game works, having a high ping can give you a massive desync advantage in the game - i.e. UK players will probably get shot from behind cover by say, NA players. So for example, lets say a NA team comes along and wipes out a UK team at the start of the game that could have gone on to win and got messed up by desyncs. That would be pretty tilting! But I understand that without doing major detective work and verification work before the tournament its going to be hard to police this (outside of your current method).

Personally though regarding Ringers - I'd like the challenge. Plus the exposure of having some pro's in the games would be great for the community (and the UK Pro scene too). I really want to play this but i'm not sure if i'm free on the qualifier days and the same goes for the people I play with.

I also had no idea there were in house custom games for Forum members (although I don't post much). What is the best way to get notified about them?

Would be pretty easy to knock out the NA players. Just check the accounts on pubg.op.gg if they have majority of their games outside of EU they're probably not UK players.

Other than that there's not a huge amount you can do especially with PO boxes and mates in the U.K.

exactly - i just don't get the complaining.

yea, again weird. i guess i understand that some folk just don't like the idea of going into a game knowing they are likely to get rinsed (pride and all that) - i personally know where my skill level sits and have no 'delusions of grandeur'. i know our team will likely get hosed but it'll be fun trying to take out the higher tier players.

to give an analogy......i used to play a bit of saturday/sunday league football - if our local team had had the opportunity to play a tournament that included say barcelona i know there'd have been a couple of our guys would have flat out refused as they woudn't have wanted to be humiliated but the most of us would have lapped up the opportunity.

bring it on i say - shame we can't get the likes of shroud in too!! :p

play all the games on the na servers - if there's any na 'ringers' it'll put them at a disadvantage as we'll get the lag comp ;)

While that is true, I know that I play a fair few games on NA with NA friends, and my brother pretty much plays all of his games on there too. So perhaps use it as a check and then ask for proof if this is the case?

Although there could also be the opposite - a NA player that plays on EU servers a lot (or a Chinese player).

its already been explained. no need to go on about it.if me locky grs and someone else were to be together then we would place.its not about that.its about the point that innititally the comp was a community comp and all the prizes were supposes to be given out in the previous events of JULY. we won literally every game during this event.nothing given out and think a couple of prizes were given to some others but the main thing is those prizes are in this comp.when really they should have been given out already.so basically we gave them a free event played the games but because they gained little followers or exposure prizes been saved for a new event.thats lame really lame and the soul reason i wont play.im not bothered about the pros i know with the better players we will already place.even against pro teams.its the fact of how the comp was set up and not followed.all the streams events were done.you can go watch us win the games.yet nothing.

please dont reply to this i just left it recently.id rather those of the community who want to enjoy the comp enjoy it.ive stated why im not joining in.its not cause of pros i can hold my own i know that.its cause the whole prize pool has been kept back due to basically poor promotion low subscribers from the last event.which is pretty sad.it was basically a lie.turn up play custom games for the prizes.oh we will hold back the bulk of them because we only got 9 subs.so low.

Technically true 25th is still placing isn't it...

Well short of requiring everyone install a bit of software there's no realistic way of proving anything. Heck even if it is all uk one person will inevitably have a bad connection and gain the same advantage :D.

aww sweetheart.....you thought I was talking about you specifically.....that's cute. triggered much? I was generalising.

please dont reply to this
don't want a reply, don't post then matey.

I'll address a few points, then if you want to continue this we can do it in the main pubg thread, or in discord if you'd prefer.

sure you might place, I wouldn't be so confident though. why? well I've played with you enough to form a pretty accurate opinion (i'm only going to focus on you as I don't feel it fair to bring others players names into like you have)

I've seen how you play and it breaks down like this - you have exceptionally good circle/positional awareness - the game knowledge to follow the circle and avoid contact/players is second to none. kudos for that, seriously i'm not taking the pee, the way you can glide round the circles in relative safety is genius....me, I can avoid some folk some of the time but guaranteed i'll eventually lead out team into that barn that has a squad sat with their guns pointed at the door :p.
where you're game breaks down is the actual fighting. multiple times I've seen clear evidence of the same potato aim that the rest of us mere mortals suffer from. and it's this 'normal' level of aiming ability that makes me doubt you'd place as highly as you think you would.
you see the thing is, the more pro players will also have the same (thought maybe not just as good) level of circle/situational awareness as you but they will have far superior aiming abilities and this is what will let you down.
also, most of the games I've been involved with or watched you win have been the result of numerical superiority. 9 times out of 10 i'd expect that 'number's win in normal run of the mill games. however when up against pro players that is not always going to be the case. sadly we'll never know as our self proclaimed platinum (can't remember the highest ranking) player has ruled himself out. I is sad :( about that (genuinely) as if i'm wrong in my above view (i'm not btw - i'm very rarely wrong :p) then i'd take great joy is seeing 'one of our own' reking the pros as I know there's next to no chance of me doing it!

re the prizes, without trawling through older threads - i'm sure the previous iterations of events never made any promise of prizes of this level. it was my understanding (which is perhaps totally wrong and am happy to be corrected) that there were to be a few events followed by a final event where the steelseries guys/gals were gonna join in and dish out some prizes - I'm sure that happened exactly as they said it would.

that said, not playing because you think it was poorly handled previously is kind of like cutting your nose of to spite your face. if your so confident that you could place surely you'd play now? it would really be a tad childish not to?

annnnd finally.....
so basically we gave them a free event
you didn't give them a 'free event' - OcUK gave you a free event at a time when, initially, we couldn't create our own custom servers. you should really be a bit grateful for that at least.

anywho, as I said above, if you want to continue this debate then quote this message but post it in the main pubg thread rather than us clutter this one up with saltiness and self praise/loathing :p

Yeah, you are right. I could just flat out use a VPN to achieve the same thing. Its a shame that PUBG corp don't allow proper dedicated servers for this.

haha kwango dunno why you got your tongue in their arse for but i let you carry on. as for my play style comedy. you played 2-3 games with me . i been the most consistant player last two months not even playing full bore placing 50th in world most wins. most kills.yet im potato.lol.ever since i joined discord i watch how players play.with the aim of seeing whos good who has game sense.to progress onto better things and better play. the problem is many here dont know comp play or never played comp and take public play as they amazing. as for triggered last person on this planet who is triggered is me. i been baited since day one its normal.

the event we made happen by playing when they couldnt get players.you know this. i know you want people for your twitch and stuff cause its as empty as ocuks but dont bait on that.
