OCUK's new website

i believe this is casekings influence. as its exact clone. buy one site get 2.

Hmm, I had never been there until now. For some reason theirs made me think of a mix of Screwfix and the site with the shells and yoke.

^ Good improvement. I would get rid of the black bar at the top and make it a solid light grey. You're missing a way to navigate the banner carousel though.

Don't Overclockers staff wear black branded shirts/all clothing?

Initially I quite liked it, colour scheme is decent and the categories across the top work well although reminiscent of a direct competitor's site.

TWO however is a bit of a mess, I'd rather a list than sticking it in to categories then having to click on each one to find the deals within.

The advertising on the sides doesn't work particularly well in resolutions over 1080p. Looks odd at 1440p with the add only taking up 75% of length of the page.

Looking again think I would have to clarify my earlier comments by saying it does look a bit too busy - think the colours could do with toning down slightly. I like the suggestions a few pages back on modifying the new page by greywolf.

Still - we will get used to it in the end, and I am sure it will be tweaked here and there in the coming weeks due to feedback on here etc.

If the customers call for it then yes I would expect they would? Or at least tweak it.

Tweaking it and "Putting the one one back" aren't even close to being similar.

It's already been said that they've spent a substantial amount of time working on this. They're not simply going to just up and drop everything they've done because some people are moaning and being divas.

This thread feels like the Fallout 4 thread in early days where people who clearly don't have eyes were claiming it looked awful and no different to Fallout 3.

Take it down? NO!

Tweak it? Of course it will be tweaked and polished over coming weeks.

I don't think any company has ever launched a new from the ground up website and got it perfect straight away. :)

Well that's disappointing.

The worst thing is their site doesn't look as cluttered because as I said in the thread, they use more negative space. The design doesn't work with the OcUK colour scheme, I'm glad I wasn't wrong though:

it does feel like this wasn't designed by a designer, but by someone higher up saying "I want this on here, and this, and this, and that" to which point there was no other option than to have a cluttered mess.

Of course not, but on the flip side, any brand worth their salt will have at least run some usability studies and possibly A-B testing on the new design before releasing an unusable site.

Considering OcUK are a modern tech company, it's rather ironic that the site is neither modern, nor works well on modern tech. As I said before it's completely UNUSABLE on touch based devices. In this instance I WOULD TAKE IT DOWN before re-working and re-releasing the design once it works.

I know no-one will actually take this advice onboard however.

Oh and for future reference try running a beta site through trymyui before releasing to the public.

Multi million pound company and this monster is created? it's not even responsive :(

Did no one think to maybe tap into the wealth of design and programming talent on the forums?

I've had a look through it and it seems good, navigation wise. The colours though! When I'm browsing it and scrolling down a page, it really messes with my eyes.

Either I'm still a bit hungover or the white background seems a bit too bright.

Whats with all the random black outer glows on some of the boxes? It even cuts off on the New Products, Offers and Top Sellers tabs.

Neither of those are ironic.

No disrespect meant Gibbo, but given the resources at your disposal, the whole launch of this site, the bugs and problems, the poor design and other issues has been nothing short of amateur.

I seriously hope whatever you have planned for the forums has involved some leading experts in forum migrations. I already have a feeling you are leading towards 2 potential platforms, and if I'm right it will be nothing short of a total disaster. I'm only going to link you this tool: https://tools.digitalpoint.com/cookie-search and suggest looking at the migration patterns of the commercial softwares. If you want to discuss it with me I will be happy to give you an hour of my time free because I don't want to see another forum I love to visit ruined by switching to buggy and problematic software.
