OCUK's new website

Really don't like it. It's far too busy, hate the categories now and looks like too many competitors websites. Why bother with the Caseking links as well, especially the Germany and Hungary ones? I know they own OCUK but the links are rather pointless. Someone in the UK is hardly going to order from Germany or Hungary and people in those countries are likely to already know about them.

Really don't like it because there is far too much stuff on that front page that just doesn't need to be there, Far too much clutter and too much going on.

the site looks a bit in the 90s early 2000s,

to much griadent for the sake of it & hover drop downs are very bad experience in my experience specially on phones.

Less is more, OcUK. The website is far, far, far too busy. Your eyes are pulled in a hundred different directions as everything is fighting for your attention.

Take note of what the other chap said about sticking to a few core colours and losing all the shading. There is absolutely no consistency in design. Notice how nicer your social media buttons are compared to the 'Forums' button at the top. Think Windows 10, not some php monstrosity knocked up in Dreamweaver.

It would be a far better user experience too, if you utilised more white-space. Instead, you are trying to cram too much in to one space. Your advertisements always look like some badly tiled background wallpaper; try making them smaller and less intrusive. I know you want sales, but the better the user experience on your website, the more people will want to use it. Your website isn't just a portal, it is your brand. I would go as far as to strongly suggest you take the site down, outsource it and get something truly functional and unique up. Invest in yourself!

As it stands, it's about a 4/10.

Probably not a biggy and haven't read all of the above to see if its mentioned - but it would go a long way towards easing getting used to the new site if it would remember how we adjust the layout and sorting of product lists. Just aggravates when you open another tab or even browse to another product range and the formatting and sorting options revert to default.

+1 sorting and filtering was the most annoying thing about the last site and this one isn't much better

In the same amount of screen space on a competitor site, there are 20 things to click on, with the OCUK site there are 65.

14 on the first are useful, buying or account related, things I want easy access to, this includes 8 for the main categories of product.

18 on the OCUK site are useful, however of the 65, 13 are already duplicated or triplicated within the viewable area!

^ agree on almost all of it.

the old site was much better to read

Just realised its a clone of caseking.de in different colours.... sad

even the E competitor is easier to view than OCUK now

For a site that clearly has high revenue and hopefully good profit you really need to hire in, just for a month or two, a UI and UX professional. I have worked with a few in the past and the difference these people make is incredible.

I am sure whomever made this site refresh is reading this, in which case I apologise - I am not trying to offend. But the design appears to be straight out of a teenagers bedroom in 2004 using a PHP CMS like Mambo/Joomla.

Number 1 huge mistake - it is not mobile/touch friendly. Please PLEASE don't make an auto redirect when a mobile browser is detected to another website. Modern websites DO NOT DO THIS ANY MORE - you will suddenly need to maintain two websites with the overhead this entails and in the process, annoy the people you are hoping will buy stuff from you.

You want to look into something called "Responsive Web Design".

Get rid of the clutter and the side bars. This isn't clan website, this is a business.

A couple of reference shop websites (hard to find non-competitors):

https://www.etsy.com/
https://www.7digital.com/

Interesting note, HTTPS just right off the bat for the whole site. Secondly they work well on any screen/resolution or device.

Look at the simplicity of the colours and clean menu design. There is no clutter, just direct eye catching details about what products they want you too buy.

As a side point, most of the usual competitors for computer sales have terrible websites.

This is a perfect chance for OcUK to make themselves stand out from the crowd a little. I've often hated using some websites to purchase products due to simply how awful their websites are. There is just no need for it.
