Oculus Quest 2 getting official wireless 'Air Link' mode and 120hz PC support

i didnt get VD long ago, hope this update works
tempted to get a refund on VD
as i cant use it to play games

The VD developer is going to be out of a job soon

But to be honest for consumers we would welcome the Air link in the box. I.e. included. Maybe they just should not have blocked his app for 2 years.

Play Eleven table tennis, and watch the ball. The difference in smoothness between 72hz and 90hz is very noticable. The ball moves so fast it looks stuttery on lower refresh rates.

Aha, that would be one of those games where you're expected to move about then. Me and things that move quickly are not really on speaking terms.

Hopefully he'll be good for a while yet. It took link a good while to catch up with VD in terms of image quality. I still find VD to better in terms of compatibility as well. I don't imagine their wireless solution will be ready for prime time yet.

You still having problems? Have you tried getting a dedicated WiFi AP? I'm only on 866mhz WiFi and gameplay seems fine for me. You can get a TPLINK 802.11ac ap for less than £50, double that for WiFi 6 unfortunately.

any recommendations ?

I use a UAP-AC-LR, but mainly because I use them at work so got it cheap. Apparently the TP-Link TL-WA1201 supports the full 867 Mbps at 5 GHz, and in my experience the tp-link stuff is pretty good and that's only £35! If you're after wifi 6 then stock seems a bit weird at the moment, once the Ubiquiti U6-Lite comes in I'll likely upgrade, but you do need to run controller software on your PC to use that stuff.

All these would need a Cat5e back to the router or a switch by your PC (assuming you're PC is wired).

I suppose if you are using wifi on your PC then you could just plug your PC straight in to the access point, you'd need to make sure the TPlink is set to dish out DHCP in that case.

What is your network setup?

Oh right, haha, no idea sorry, mine just worked (once I enabled full wifi speed).

As an addendum to my previous post, Wifi 6 is probably pointless as 1gbps LAN is limited to 940Mbps anyway....unless I'm missing something.

What problems do you have currently with the desktop program?

Networking 1x Realtek® 8125B 2.5Gbps LAN Controller
Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200
Supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, MU-MINO Rx, 2.4GHz-5GHz (160MHz) up to 2.4Gbps
Supports Bluetooth® 5

This is the information on your setup looks good to me as it says 2.4GHz - 5GHz. That's all I know so far.

thats for wireless
the Ethernet to router though is 2.5 ? do i need to buy a 5Gbs Lan controller ?

If you've got 2.5gb Lan on the motherboard I think you would still need a wifi6 AP with 2.5gb Lan to utilise the full 802.11ax speeds.

Bear in mind I could be completely off the mark, but I'm pretty sure that 802.11ac (WiFi 5) already pretty much utilises all of the bandwidth of the 1gbps connect such as those found on most wireless access points/routers.

So having WiFi 6 direct in your motherboard should mean that you're getting more speed than the wireless points that I was suggesting when you've set up a hotspot, unless windows gimps it in some way.

I feel like I've been less than helpful here.:o

What problems are you having with the Q2? (I ask this in the full realisation that you've probably already been over this with people much more knowledgeable about this)
