Out of curiosity, I thought I would do a poll thread for the 2 current PC VR devices that are coming, so pretty simple questions....

  • I have pre-ordered the Rift
  • I will pre-order the Vive
  • One of the options when prices reduces
  • I am not interested in VR
  • Waiting it out for reviews before deciding

Think you'd need a few more options regarding having one or both of Rift & Vive. I've preordered the Rift, and will likely preorder the Vive. Some people are not going to preorder the Rift but will the Vive, and vice versa.

Not particularly interested in VR yet, I'll wait for the tech to mature some more and drop in price too whilst it's at it.

As a sim racer I'm very interested in VR. I won't be buying in until the end of the year, mainly because I need to refresh my system and that's going to be a big chunk of cash that I don't have lying aroud atm.

Yer true but I just wanted to keep it simple. If they both have exclusives, then I will be ordering both as well.

Thanks Mods for the poll :)

not interested , yet !

why ? cause i know for the next 5 yrs it will be milk milk milk headsets updated every 6 months until we get to a point where it will be worth buying and properly functional and at a decent price.

I might buy one of them when they're readily available and I don't have to wait months for it to arrive. Plus by then there will be lots of reviews to help with decision.

I'll look at the tech in a couple of years, still feel it's not mature enough or comfortable enough for me personally.

Which is annoying as I absolutely loved ED with the DK2 but couldn't wear it long.

OP:
Sorry, your option 3 makes no sense. Can you please update.

For me, I'm going to wait to see what happens in the next few months with Vive and how final production versions compare.
Additionally, my belief is that Oculus are testing the market place price elasticity and are presently seeing what they can get away with asking.

I wouldn't be surprised if the price drops by a good 1/3 in the next 6 months.

Option 3 is for those interested but needs to be cheaper. Maybe I should change the term?

I think saying something like "One of the options when prices reduce". I think it doesn't make sense if you relate it to the tread title, as you won't be pre-ordering at that point, you'll just be buying the product when it's cheaper.

I'm invested in VR after trying the DK1, GearVR and DK2. I'm hoping to get both the Vive Pre and Rift at work before launch so I can give them a proper go.

For now I have the Rift pre-ordered for March and I'll probably pre-order the Vive for April as well then either cancel one depend on which seems to offer the most once more information is out or I've tried them in person, or keep them both and sell one on depending on what they are going for on Ebay etc :p

For anyone on the fence for VR I wouldn't jump in at the £500+ price range as there isn't going to be enough content out there to sustain your interest. For Sim gamers though it might be worth it you have some spare cash floating around and want to take your space sim venture to the next level.
