Not as many people as I thought thus far who are not interested. A good sign for the future and maybe some of those guys will have a play, like it and change their minds.

I'd love to order one, but just cannot justify the cost of the rift plus a pc upgrade to do it justice for the handful of games I'd be likely to play on it, happy to wait to see how the technology matures over the next few years and will definitely be getting VR at some point.

I wasn't really interested until I tried out an OR at an expo booth. Really awesome technology and without the vomity issues I was expecting.

I won't be picking it up until the price comes down though, and ideally not the first gen version.

Debating a rift or razer osvr atm due to being half the price and with all the new partners it should have some good games comming out on it

Wjen I saw the price on the the day a thought 'to expensive' but after seeing the delivery days had fallen back to may June ì figured I would order one and save the extra between now and then.

"Waiting for the inevitable v2 models in less than 12 months time" would be my option.

I am sure I read that Oculus have a 10 year plan, so I expect and want a few revisions in that time. I just hope more and more people jump on it so the game developers can see a mass market for it and support will flow then.

Its new car syndrome, really want one but your better off waiting for the 2nd generation.

Still I will await the reviews of each and see which one works the best with Elite Dangerous mainly, Star Citizen and the odd driving game.

(Its a sad thing but I have avoided travelling to our solar system so i can visit each planet with VR, never going to be able to afford it)

Now maybe use the rift, in the weightless plane simulator :)

On the Reddit AMA, he said that they see the Rift has having a lifetime similar to that of a mobile phone, i.e. 2 years.

I'm not interested at this point, the only one that slightly appeals is the Oculus and i'd rather watch Facebook destroy that from a distance, thanks.

I voted "waiting it out for reviews before deciding" but I'm really also waiting to see how well VR will be supported in games and how much longevity these VR headsets have in them before newer versions come out before I decide whether I'll buy one or not.

Wait for 2nd generation, assuming it takes off. The test will be in actual content and games developed for it as otherwise it will end up an expensive paper weight.

I think i might turn the guest bedroom into a gigantic ball pit and have some bondage type wire work from the roof for the cables.

tbh i will probably get both and try them both and the one i prefer i will keep.
tough call atm tho for me.

What company only replaces their phone lineup every 2 years?

Sure phone may last 2 years, mainly driven by the culture oh 24 month contracts, but revisions of devices are released annually by most firms.

He actually said "Somewhere between a console and a mobile phone, much closer to a mobile phone." So that does give it a lifespan of around 2 years, maybe 3.
