Oculus Rift

Had a friend over last night so played loads. Actually really like Dead and Buried though I thought I wouldn't. The Quick Draw is quite good for a quick game but the horde and 2v2 gets pretty intense too. The variety of weapons like throwing dynamite, holding a shield, bow and arrow, attaching scopes etc really adds another dimension (no pun).

Echo Arena is interesting but takes a lot of practice! Can certainly see it turning into an esport.

I'm having trouble playing both Steam Games that I've bought, Project Cars and Portal. Project Cars shows either a specific error inside the headset whilst the game loads on-screen, or just says it's taking too long to load and to take the headset off. In Portal I'm inside the floor with the initial game menu being way above head. Any ideas?

From memory in Steam click on the little VR icon at the top right and go through the setup, cant remember if you have to install anything or just click the little button :)

Steam recently updated the VR Home and it has some great addons, a lot more configurable than Oculus Home.

It likely will, but as I said I was thinking about just putting in some worktop across from the stair indent to the top wall. It'll be about 1.2M wide, much wider than my desk and might give me a bit more room

How about this. If you can rotate your desk around. Put on Sensor in one corner and the other one in the opposite corner. This sensor location will work even if you put in the worktop.

The picture below shows what I am talking about. It's not a great picture :p The green and orange boxes are the sensors. Pick which ever corner location suits you. Red area is your play area. It's not massive but because of the stair indent, it should allow you space to swing your arms while facing it. You are playing on the diagonal :)

Ive been trying to play horde mode in Dead and Buried since I got the rift last week but I cant seem to find any games. I understand from google this is a common problem?

I haven't had a problem with horde but have with shootout. In that case I created a game and it soon filled, so I'm thinking there may be a problem with games/servers getting created automatically based on demand?

It can vary depending on time of day, but Dead and Buried is an older game now, so maybe doesn't have the userbase despite the recent influx of new owners. Add yourself to the list, and if you're about for a game one evening, let me know (and I guess Melmac would be up for it as well), and we'll get a game of D&B horde mode going :)

As FlukeRogi said, put your name on the OCuk VR names list and add us all as friends on Steam and Oculus. There are some of us who play game 2/3 nights a week. And We are trying to get more people involved so we can do more group type games. I would up for a game of Dead and Buried any evening that I am online.
 
I'm always down for some DnB. I'm usually online from 8 to 10.

Misschief, if I were you I'd put the sensors in to two corners on the right side of the drawing, put your desk against the rightmost wall (facing it) and then use the left half of the room as your play area. Pick up some sticky wall mounts for a few quid on amazon so the stair indent doesn't occluded the sensors when you are crouching to pick things off the floor and you're golden.
 
Speaking of mulitplayer games, Played almost two of hours Of Eleven: Table Tennis VR against RockSteddie last night. It really doesn't feel like VR, it amazing how close to the real game it actually is. I love Table Tennis but there is nobody near me who plays, so it's fantastic to be able to play against some guy in another country :) Very Competitive games too, RockSteddie is pretty damn good!! I am ashamed to say that I took unfair advantage of the fact that because of the Rift cable he wasn't able to return properly on his backhand side. :p I'm a win at all costs kinda guy :D

Close games and good fun :) All we needed was some beer. IF anyone else wants a game sometime I would be up for it.

Plugged in my new OR and:-
- Headset HDMI detected...
- Headset USB detected...
- Neither of my two sensors are detected...

I've tried plugging them in any/all USB 2 and 3 ports I have across my MB and even my Inateck 4 Port PCI-E card too!

Nada!

Rebooted and retried... Nada!

Re-installed/repaired the installation... Nada!


In Computer Manager, under other Devices I can see two occurrences of:-
"CV1 External Camera" with an exclamation mark:-

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.


To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.​

"This problem happen to me. But I did not need to reinstalling the Oculus Software. Just find the Oculus instanlling dir, under this dir $(OculusDir)/Support/oculus-drivers, you can find oculus-driver.exe, double click can fix this problem"
