Oculus Rift

AMAGAHD ITS AMAZING! And I've only done the demo :p

Just installing the free bundle games, but which are some of the best driving games?
I'm in the same boat. Mind blown. I've been iRacing this afternoon and after initially feeling very green :s I am now fine doing 120mph in my virtual world. Honestly brings a new dimension to the racing games. Project cars and Assetto are meant to be awesome too.

Dirt Rally and Project Cars are good. I've not yet tried Assetto Corsa, but it should be good too. iRacing ... too expensive for my taste. :)

Pavlov looks like it could be a real good laugh in multiplayer, not quite as 'sim' as Onward. Fairly cheap at £6.99 and supports steam workshop for user made maps (link). There are lots of remakes of maps from other games like counter strike, even spotted facility from Goldeneye 007!

Some gameplay - worth skipping to around 5 minutes. The desert eagle this guy finds around 7:40 looks mental!

Just ordered the third sensor and was wondering if someone could confirm the cable that comes with it. The Oculus website says "Includes: Sensor with cable and 5 meter extension cable."... so is that a total length of 5m, or an optional 5m plus whatever the standard length is (2m at a guess)?

I was worried this might happen. :(

I don't really have enough space to use it to it's full extent. My PC Room is quite small and there's a big chunk of the room taken up with the space above the stairs. It's a boxroom really. Even if I sit right back the setup says my Sensors aren't far enough apart and if I skip it I don't have enough room to move my left arm out to the full extent. After the initial setup in the RV/Trailer I couldn't even pick stuff up from the 3D printer thing as the wall was too close. :(

Will need to see if I can re-jig it a bit but there's never going to be loads of room in here.

Can you not use usb extension cables to reach a different room? Or even put them out the window into the garden. I use 10m cables to reach my living room that then gives me 3m x 2m.

Oh wow, that's a pain :( can you put up a paint drawing of the shape of your room? Maybe you could move the sensors so they are facing the another direction. They don't have to be each side of your pc, they can be anywhere really.

It's not really the sensors, it's the play area I have in front of my desk.

VERY basic room plan:

The stair indent has a flat top but it's about 2 1.2 feet tall. My back is to the door when I sit so as you can see, not a huge amount fo space. I was thinking of getting a piece of worktop and putting it on the right side.

The Stars are the sensor locations, I've had to sit one on top of the PC!

Folks. Got a anal question.

The dood that represents you in the top right corner of the home screen.
Sometimes I notice the front of the headset on the representation, disappearing and you can see his eyes.

Other times you can see that the headset is covered and you can't see the eyes. It's as if there is a clipping problem or some other graphical glitch. Any thoughts on this (assuming I made any sense!)

The desk won't fit into that space on the right? Put the PC up on the stair indent? Then put the sensors at an angle facing into the space where the desk is now. Put one sensor on the bottom wall and one on the right hand wall. I might be totally reading your drawing wrong :) Is the slanted line a stairs? or a misprint?

I never, ever look at the dood, so I can't answer your question :) Sorry!!

You're certainly seeing a glitch for some reason. The eyes should always be covered with with whatever eyewear you selected in the avatar editor (Oculus said something like avatar eyes give too much of an uncanny valley impression atm, though I'd say it depends on the graphical style).

The bottom left is the door, not the stairs.

It likely will, but as I said I was thinking about just putting in some worktop across from the stair indent to the top wall. It'll be about 1.2M wide, much wider than my desk and might give me a bit more room
