Right as I started this log, might as well update it.
Had a bit of a break through today.
I've switched to 5x5 on all my excersises, but it's a bit early yet to say thats the reason why I'm making progress.
I've hit:
50kg on my bench
32.5kg on my OHP
125kg on my leg press. (And this is ATG legpress, dead stops, so every rep is as tough as the first. Only way to do this machine, other wise when you try to increment weight, it will be the push off thats the problem)
May not sound impressive, (lets face it there not) but for me thats solid progress.
Especially the bench. Something I alwasy struggle with, and didnt imaging hitting 50kg! 2 weeks ago when I tried it, I could even manage a rep, it was like trying to lift a car!
I'm also ready to add weight to my dip! Not so long ago I couldnt do body weight.
---
The only thing I changed this session, was randomly I had two bananas before training and I have bought a new set of gloves. I think it's the gloves that are helping, they are comfortable and have improved my grip strength.
My next goal for the bench is 60kg. That seems to be where people of my level and body type at the moment.
---
And my leg press is good too. I see guys much bigger than me struggle, all becuase they don't understand you have to train the push off, not the press.
I put the seat all the way down to the bottom and put the weight high. When they sit down, they move seat up and move the weight down..... and then realise that the little guy that was using the machine before them, has just pressed weights they cant. I see it in their face. Then they macho up and increase the weight after swapping with me again and really struggle and have to use hands to get the push off.
---
Eventually I am going to include dealifts in my routine. I can do them I think. The squat I cant. I tried it with just the bar and was petrified.
---
Lets not hear anything more about squats this and squats that. We all have to work within our limitations. Maybe after another few months, on the legress I'll try it again, but it's the movement thats the problem. Leg press is a very different type of movement and doesnt cause my any problems. At least the sky is the limit weight wise. (and I'm starting to see quad bulk, so thats all that matters)
