Off to Thailand to train Thai Boxing

Weigh in this morning at 115.5Kg (Including sweat drenched shorts/top and water intake)

Quite happy with that considering I have been out of training for 1.5 weeks with my foot injury. Back into it now but upper body only. Was 118.5 the last time I checked.

Represents ~10Kg total since arriving which is not too bad with about 2 weeks of lost time (Ear infection and foot). I'm not setting many weight targets as it's too random and hard to tell if some fat is gone and more muscle gained but if I could get sub 110 by around 14th August (2 months) I would be 4 or 5Kg away from my previous low weight.

Hi Sin_Chase got a quick question if you don't mind;

I'm going to get my uncle to pick up some shinguards for me next time he's in Thailand to replace the crappy ones I'm using at the moment but I'm not sure what size I need to tell him. I think my shins are roughly 14", any idea what size I would need to get?

I'm not totally sure to be honest, the ones I am using at the moment do not see much use so it's a 1 size fits all slip on kind of affair.

I can have a nose in the shop in the coming days and see what size ranges there are.

Cool cheers, I've been told to go for XL shorts so I'd imagine it'll be about a L in the shin guards (the ones I have at the moment are a large).

Sin_Chase,

Thanks for the pics of the fight night. Whilst I have had the interesting which turns to irritating experience of the fight night trucks I have never been to a fight to watch. It was good to see although it looks a lot less packed in the seats than I would have expected.

I also noticed you had no pics of the ladies actual fight.

Seems like you are loving it out there bar the injuries and while I still prefer Koh Samui to Koh Phuket, it is not so bad apart from all the tourists and expats ;). Sun, sea, villa, pretty girls happy for your attention/love/money. Now I know why I didn't go.... I want to stay married  :D.

Great progress as well.

Down to ~112Kg now which hopefully means I can meet the target of 110Kg or below by August 14th.

7Kg a month seems doable and over 5 months would represent 5 and a half stone of weight loss.

Right foot is still not 100% and I am still unable to kick which is starting to do my head in a bit. Arms are getting a total hammering though and endurance for punching alone has gone up rather a lot.

Body is demanding an insane amount of sleep also, very ver hard to get up in mornings!

Excellent thread, really enjoyed reading this.

Anyway recently I have been thinking about starting something like muay thai or boxing. This looks amazing. I am looking at their website and becoming very interested in spending a few months over there - I want to do a bit of travelling now I have finished uni so this seems ideal.

Im not fat but I have become quite chubby over the last year since slacking off of the gym, and fitness has taken a toll after starting smoking. This looks like a great opportunity to get myself back in shape, learn a new skill and see an amazing country.

Can you go as an absolute novice or do you need some prior experience?

Going to look at spending 3 months over there.

I came as a complete beginner. No prior experience needed :)

Absolutely recommended by me. The Muay Thai is awesome, meeting everyone is awesome, living here/seeing the country is awesome.

I am looking forward to getting home, and it will be welcomed after 5-6 months of being here. But become very used to the life here, so laid back compared to home in pretty much every respect.
