Off to Thailand to train Thai Boxing

~£200 training
~£300 food
I rent for around £200 a month.

I personally budget £1000 total per month which includes some entertainment (cinema, going out etc)

show im fighting at in Bristol is under full thai rules as well.
But im fighting c class as its my 1st one so.. no knees to the head but elbows and knees to the body are allowed.. theyll be some good A class fights..
imo Jordan Watson from bad company gym in leeds is one to watch right now. I watched him fight Baukaw at Seni earlier on this year. Twas good but he lost.. he recently fought Hino Kaiti an ex ramajadern stadium champion, and he won. Broke Hinos leg with a kick in the 3rd round.
oh yes www.sakprasert.com is my camp. Again as ive said my kru is thai so we get taught the right way. ;)

Hows the trainintg going Sin, any pics? do you buy your own food or pretty much buy from the stalls? would love to follow your blog, thinking of doing this

How long does it take to learn this style, I mean $330 a month sounds very expensive.

Guys, any Gym doing this style in London ? west London

If the $330 you're talking about is the training fee for Sin atm that's stupidly cheap for the amount of training he gets.

Just assuming $330 is for a period of 28 days and not a calendar month:

6 Days training a week
6 Hours a day

(330/24) so that's $13.75 a day or around $2.3 an hour !

Thai boxing classes here are about seven pounds for about an hour and a half to 2 hours

It's much cheaper there, and you're gonna have a trainer that actually knows his art through and through, it will be his livelihood.

Food wise I eat out, every night. It's cheap, it's good and my local is more like family than staff now.

Training has been going great, finish up Monday, some days off then to Singapore Friday, home on Monday after.

My kicks are really coming together now and am starting to get some great power behind them.

I just got a load of pics back from the photographer. Got them cheap (Like £15) as I have been here ages and he has just been taking some of me every now and then as opposed to me asking him to do a set.

Gallery is here. Some of my facial expressions make me lol - ranges from "I am totally exhausted" to "I KILLL YOUUU" :D

Some of my favourite ones:

Had just TOTALLY failed on a string of blocks and was making fun of myself with the trainer, always a good laugh :)

The joy of Muay Thai is anyone can get stuck in and be at a proficient level quite quickly AND there is huge headroom for improvement.

The monthly cost is pretty good, you get full access to the gym outside of the training schedules.

If it was not for the trainers and the quality of the training I would be nowhere near as advanced with the technique a I have been able to manage. I am no pro, but I have had the equivalent of 2 years training if I went twice a week, every week back home in a normal working schedule.

We get to learn Muay THai boran out here also (Old style) which is muchos fun and EPICALLY brutal. Lot's of grabs, breaks, knees to faces, spinning elbows etc :D

I hear ya dude. but for those of us who can't travel for like 3-6 months because of Job or family responsibilities are stuck with expensive services here and off course low quality than (compared to) Thailand.

I ll try to search around for a gym in London, if can't find a good place then I am off joining urbanfreeflow community. I heard there is a quite large place in Moberly Sports & Education Centre Kilburn.

Nice pictures.

Bit confused as from what I have read about ED visas, you don't need to leave the country every 90 days? The camp can just complete forms to extend.

It is an O visa which requires you to do a visa run?

You can get the 90 day extension by without leaving the country by completing forms and paying £40 each time.

Unless you're too busy for a day trip / weekend away every 3 months, I'd just go for the visa run. I suppose it depends how far away from a border you are though.

Is there a cost breakdown somewhere for what the accommodation / training / food / etc cost you?

I would love to do something similar at some point

Depends on where you choose to go and what accomodation you are after but from what I've read, you can do it pretty cheap.

I've found a place offering accommodation and training - monthly cost of 16500b = £330
Food is cheap and socialising is up to you but I'd be thinking no more than £600 a month for everything. If you want nice / private accomodation the price can go up pretty much endlessly.

It can be a lot cheaper too I think. That price is for a place on Samui. Bangkok and Chiang Mai are cheaper than the islands.

I'm looking for a detailed breakdown so that I can see which bits do/don't apply to me.

For instance, I know people who live in several different parts of Thailand, so accommodation could potentially be free/cheap were there a gym near one of those place.

Sin_chase - I sent you a few mails last week about this. Not sure if you've had a chance to read them but would appreciate some visa advice if you have some time.

Not sure which e-mail you sent to but not received anything. Will check other accounts.

Edit - Found it, replied!

I want to be back so bad now! Maybe will save up some cash, come out of work and go back over for a few more months :D
