Even cruising at high speed in most modern cars is boring (if you're used to older cars anyway) as there is no real sense of speed until 120+ in my experiences , especially if the stretch of track ;) is empty.

Unless there are other cars on track, 120mph was tedious in the Mondeo, even more tedious in the S-Class.

120mph in the MX-5 is boring because you are getting sensory overload from the noise, wind blast, rock hard suspension hammering your spine etc - gets old very fast until you come to the end of the straight...

;)

Sounds interesting but what about all the other cars currently on the roads - do they get to go at the new and increased speed limits or is it only the specific high performance cars that get to go at the new speed limits and any subsequent cars? It'll get wildly confusing if the latter. :p
The speed limits that apply are based on the cars year of production. Speed limit signs for 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 are replaced with A, B, C, D and E. Limits for each zone are printed on the V5.

For certain times of the day (say after 10pm) under certain conditions (clear skies and dry roads with minimal traffic) I see no reason why the motorway NSL can't be raised to 100mph if you had to take an extra test to obtain a license which allowed you to do so, providing your car was deemed capable.

Rather complex but I think it would work!

You don't think people have enough trouble following the rules of the road that we've already got but that we should make it more complex? I confess you've got rather more faith in your fellow motorist than I do.

That's why I would ensure that the test and training is thorough with continual retests and harsh penalties if found breaking the criteria.

It wouldn't change the normal test, it'd only apply to people who have been driving for 5 years (or whatever period is found suitable). Whether or not people with points would be allowed to apply for it would have to be discussed, perhaps only allowing people with no more than 3 points could be an option.

All in the name of speed. :D

I don't actually speed so it would make my journeys more enjoyable/quicker.

Having been to Germany and seen some mental driving on the unrestricted Autobahn (yes you, crazy M3 driver that made our whole car shake as you went past) I can honestly say I think speed limits are a good thing.

I'd be happy with a motorway increase to 80 because everyone does it anyway but not much more than that.

I'm a fan of the DVLA creating an 'elite' licence category (with accompanying decal obviously) at a suitable price point to deter the lower classes from applying, say £10,000 or so, that would grant you immunity from any speeding or parking laws. Would be quite the revenue raiser and premium marques could bulk buy at a discount and include it in their sale price.

So he was crazy because he was doing nothing illegal?

Perhaps physics should be made illegal..

Well £10k is a bit low, people could always take out a loan for that amount so it'd have to be at least £25k but for that would include a hat and a name badge.

I was awaiting the typical hurfdurf mod speech. Arrived bang on time!

Yea, sorry, been busy with some irl stuff, haven't been able to pre campaign as much as I would like or address the issues my supporters want me to address during the run up. Bit too early to start with the big guns just yet, timing is crucial during the election cycle.

There's not really much to appreciate though? I bet before all of this 'For Mod' nonsense no one had a clue who he was. I certainly didn't.

Shock horror as ex scrub tier poster (and rapidly declining back to scrub tier I may add) does not recognise top tier posting super star and original elite crew member.

No power figure has been mentioned, we are simply talking enough power to make booting it something which will always result in breaking a speed limit in a few seconds
