Joshy in 'Sub Grand car is a bit ****' shocker.
Well, that was depressing.
The guy selling that e34 needs to quit whatever he does for a living and take up photography. Anybody who can make something so bad look so good in pictures is wasting their talent flogging old BMWs.
Every exterior panel had rust. And if it wasn't metal and rusting, it was plastic and either cracked or scuffed. Couldn't tell what the sills were like due to the kit but the odd bits I could see didn't fill me with confidence. I never thought I'd be the type of person to turn up, and a quick look around and say 'Sorry, its not for me' but I was making my excuses to leave a full 3 minutes into having a look around. The guy (who seemed nice enough) persisted so I stuck around a bit longer.
Engine wise it sounded rough. The manifold blew better than a Soho hooker and it couldn't quite hold an idle.
Out on the road it actually drove very nicely given the way it looked. I mean, really, really nicely. Sure, the gear change was woollier than shaun the sheep's fleece but it soaked up bumps nicely. I could believe that it has had extensive suspension work done, but there wasn't a lick of paper work to support it.
In the end I hammered him down to £550, and even then I ended up walking away. It would have been something I'd have bitten the guy's arm off for at £550 6/7 months ago, but now I can't be arsed. Yes, I could have loads of fun ragging it and then fragging it for parts as soon as something went pop. It'd have made my money back too, but I just can't be bothered with all of that hassle just to drive a tatty car for a couple of months anymore. Maybe I'm growing up?
