***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Been playing this online for 2 days and it's a good laugh and I enjoy it. But, if you have 4 survivor players who know what they are doing and where to make a stand, the infected can't win. The game has balance issues that to me seem elementary :/

The infected aren't supposed to win!
The idea is that the survivors are much more powerful and have the best chance, the infected just have to wear them down as much as possible and then beat their score.
Otherwise the infected would have scores ;)

I do think this game is great fun, i am getting annoyed with people who dont seem to understand teamwork.

Add me to your friends list for some teamwork related malarky : CobraUK

In my experience the infected win a lot, as long as they are well organised and boomers do their job. I think boomers are the key to infected, and a wasted boomer is a missed chance.

Play with me and infected always win, when I am boomer :D

Absolutely. Each time I see a Boomer die without setting off a horde I die a little inside :*(

The boomer should always be the first to attack the humans. If you're a hunter a jump in before a boomer attack, its usually pretty useless.

The only time a hunter should go near the survivors before a boomer attack is when you want to draw their attention away from the boomer. An extra second to sneak up/vomit can make a world of difference.

Obviously, in a perfect world the hunter doesn't get killed in doing this.

Fixed :D
What's your steamID mate? Don't have you on my friends :)

Yeah true that. The only reason infected will win is that the survivors are being to slow/noobish to react to things hitting the fan.

What you and Rob say about the boomer is also correct. If anyone wants a strategy on how to win as infected its along the lines of "work as a team, boomer first then everyone get stuck in and pick off the weaker ones".

That will generally get you the best results and you can adapt around that, such as hunter distracts, smoker pulls, etc.

Servers are back up and running now :)

About ****ing time!! I want my free servers working constantly with no down time! Pfft the cheek to take it down when I could have been playing.

I have been reading up on my EU SLA and can see no mention of downtime!?

Let's just say you are lucky it's back up and leave it at then shall we?

;)

Hunters can attack without boomers, as long as there is a smoker nearby. A smoker taking one can do a good job if they are left behind and a hunter waits for someone to come back...aye Rob? ;)

No Mercy is much better for versus, but Blood Harvest is fine until the survivors get to the house, then they always sit in that room, which really needs to be fixed, such as an extra destroyable wall in the corner.

If I get round to it I can make it so the room can't be entered or at least make it more awkward to use - which room is it you're talking about?

Yeah I agree link, the game we were in last night the others were do desperate to not lose another map they just camped in BH5 final room where the radio is and just destroyed the tank.

I find it more fun to at least go outside/barn and make it interesting rather than just camp in a room.

It's not really a valid tactic as you don't even have to reload (just grab another auto shotty from the rack).

Things they could do to fix this:

1) Possibly make another wall as you said (or make the current existing hole bigger)
2) Put an object inside the house to bash them over with (like the forklifts and random smaller objects scattered around)
3) Make it apart of the exploit maps feature list and block people camping in there.
4) Make the tank able to "cleave" with his punch. I.E - One swing can hit multiple people if stood together!

I've had what we experienced last night before, ran in as the tank and had 3 of them unable to move in a corner. Unfortunatley because the tanks melee hit only hits 1 at a time there were 2 shooting and 1 getting hit and unable to do anything. If the tank had a multiple hit ability or more hits in one swing you could take them out I think!

Currently the only thing I can do as server admin is to add an area to a "no-go" list for survivors. Infected can still walk through this area as normal.

Obviously not always the most useful tool but it can be good in certain situations (perhaps not this one).

Yeah cos you gotta press the damn button, get ammo, get health. Because of this would be hard for L4D developers to fix it too probably..

Therefore, Id go with changing the way the house was designed for bashable objects, bigger hole/more walls or cleaving tank!

Ok folks, I've not been able to play past few days but soon as I get home tonight I'm getting some food then hitting L4D until about 8-9ish.

Anyone going to be playing about 7pm ?
