***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I'm not Scottish! :D
I thought our game was a good one too.

think it might be me he was talking about mate - was good fun last night, even though we didnt progress through a level for the time i was there it was a great laugh.

... couldnt stop laughing after that weird witch glitch where she was walking really slowly towards a guy on the ground, we managed to kill her before she reached him only for me to accidentally fire my shotgun and kill him dead!

Ah Aekeron cheers! will send over STEAM id in a mo, just need to find it :D

Last night's game was pretty win, the tank on the roof when parked was neat ;-)

Brilliant Game but unfortunately I keep getting stung by kids in bloody clans.

I'm on the infected side with 3 little gob ****es in a clan - Going through the map with no team effort over than to leave me to pretty much do everything on my own and somehow managing to do it well.

Anyway Tank time rolls round and lo and behold I get chosen, suddenly up pops a vote and the words 'we want tankzor n00b, **** off' and I get voted out of the game by the 3 little gits.

Should have switched to survivors and then had the pleasure of shooting the bar stewards.

Careful as it's not always necessarily a rage quit. There are plenty of system crashes in this game.

Yeah, I know. Normally you can tell though. Some people shout and rage through the game moaning about how unfair it is, or they quit right at the end of a round when a team makes it (sometimes before their turn). Those that are obvious I will kick (only from my lobby though, I won't if I join a game they are already in so no worries there Aeekeron ;) ), those that aren't so obvious I may just overlook. As you say, no point in making extra nemesis'

It's mostly so that there are more regular players (that seem responsible) on the servers, keeping an eye on things/making sure people behave :)

The admin menu can be reached in game via the console command "sm_admin". From there you should be able to various things. You'll also have kick vote immunity.

I'm possibly going to look at putting some more interesting plugins on there again but I'm just monitoring the servers for now as I'm fairly sure one of the old sourcemod plugins I ran was hammering the CPU.

Can the admins still be kicked by other admins? Because some may disconnect/become afk without the game registering the fact so it may be necessary to remove them. (I am aware some afks cannot be helped)

EDIT: @ slippy, be sure to join ocuk. Games are generally better than with randomers!

T'was me. See the posts above :)

Yes, they can kick other admins through the sm_admin menu.

Normally you can tell though.... they quit right at the end of a round when a team makes it (sometimes before their turn).

Funnily enough, I quit often enough at the end of the round... That is, if I quit, I try to wait until the end of a round to do so. Sometimes, I've ran out of time, or the kids have woken up etc, but sometimes it's because I'm not enjoying the game or I'm playing like a donkey. Last night, it happened to be because my PC went t*ts-up at the end of a round.

Am I a rage quitter? Of course not. But I risk being labelled at such by you.

Why bother even considering quitters at all... If they are Randoms, you will probably never see them again anyway, and if they are friends then they will usually respond to a quiet word. IMHO it's a non-issue, compared to griefers and the type of kids previously alluded to.

I agree with you. TBH I've never really had an issue with RQ'ers. People are used to getting invites spammed by me and I can usually have someone else available to replace at short notice.

RQ'ers no need, but there are genuine times people need to go or get kicked off. Just a quick fix and game on is my philosophy!

Yup, steam names thread :D

I will add more people from there tonight as it has new additions \m/

Since this is my first post and you are all noobs, I thought I'd learn you all with my own L4D campaign tactics:

1. Run off on your own as fast as possible. Remember its a race against the other members of your team and if you make it to the safe house first then you are the best player, ever.

2. Help team mates with constructive criticism. If they do something wrong call them a 'noob' and constantly ask "wtf ?". It's tough love but they'll thank you in the end. If they don't get the message instantly, quit the game - that will learn them.

3. Fire is everyones friend, especially in safe houses or when grouped in a tight spot. Players enjoy a challenge... whats more challenging than someone on the same team inflicting damage en masse ?

4. By the same token, don't shy from your responsibility in triggering hordes first - press buttons, open doors and shoot alarm cars without warning to keep fellow team mates on their toes.

5. Never crouch. Remember, real men bow to no one. If you run in front of a shooting team mate its up to them to stop. If they hit you, shout at them - they are probably a noob and need learning.

6. Establish your popularity by calling votes to kick team mates before they do it to you. Especially anyone foreign as they are by far the worse players, ever. Apart from noobs.

Check my skillz, come play with me sometime (no noobs),

Omg this is sage advice!

Claimed :D

In response to #1: I have been in such an unbalanced game before, that my friends and I decided on BH4 (with the red barn near start) just to run as fast as we could, not help each other and see who "Won the race" to the safehouse :D I got smokered as soon as we started, two more got huntered and the last of our players made it to the end train although he couldn't breathe through laughing at the end. Good times :)
