***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Yes the new lobby browser thing is broken.

I'll leave the melee situation as is then.

Defrag and I tested ocuk6 with the new plugins loaded back in last night, however we will have to see how it goes tonight. Hopefully it won't limit us to four survivors again.

We may also have to try 8v8 Death Aboard again...

OcUK 6 Update

New plugins installed:
-Display Damage Given Plugin. This displays damage given to other team as it is being done. This should act as some kind of fix for the fact there is no scoreboard for all 16 players.
-New Infected spawn system (in line with OcUK 7)
-Snarespeak (Now infected can taunt their victims)
-Updated Infected Vs Bots Plugin. http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=893938#post893938 - Should mean I can upt the infected max number to 8, allowing for 8v8 to be started with less than 16 players. Note that I have set it to allow hunter and smoker bots only, boomer is player controlled and will have no bots.

I may upt the general infected health and damage that they can give, as well as introducing a melee fatigue removal plugin if people think that may work. We'll see however.

MOTD/Server List Updated

I would recommend to anyone wanting a full-on, balls to the wall, damn near impossible challenge to download 'Heaven Can Wait' map (download link provided in the motd page above) and put it on expert. Kudos to Sh4rk for spotting the map.

Link, Kearney, Sh4rk and myself tried this on Saturday as an expert campaign. We started at about 5pm and we had to give up at 7:30 only getting to the start of the 4th level!

Not only are the hordes more numerous, there are instances of several witches throughout the levels and sometimes more than one tank. The level designs themselves are very well done, the level where you walk through a dense wooded area to a cemetary are particularly nasty as you can't see more than a few feet infront of you and if you get boomered in there, you're toast.

The way the weapons are placed is also very clever, you'll start out with only dual pistols, followed by a single pump-action shotty for the biggest part of the first level and on expert you'll have to be very careful indeed!

I rated it 4/5 as there are still a few bugs and the finale could have been a little better. One bug in particular to watch out for (not that you can do a lot about it) is when you're in the sewer on the 2nd level, if a random horde mini-event triggers then in most cases your L4D instance will crash out to the desktop. The best tactic we found was to send two players through first to the end of the tunnel, followed by the remaining players. That way it's less likely that you'll all crash to the desktop and be able to rejoin the game still in progress, otherwise a restart will be necessary.

I like that motd file :)

Also the use of "balls-to-the-wall". Makes me think of Garth Marenghi everytime :p

Defrag, have you played Night Terror yet?

Yes, and to be honest I wasn't that impressed. The maps are just a collection of different 'scenes' from some films as far as I could work out.

They don't hang together very well in terms of a 'story'. There are quite a few bugs and the detail in the maps is quite poor, especially if you compare it to Heaven Can Wait. Hence why I rated it at 1/5. Entertaining for about 10 minutes but I got fed up after a very short time.

The only reason i'm keeping it on the server along with Coal'd Blood is that if people want to try them out, they can do and as far as I can tell, it doesn't effect the server at all so i'll just leave them there for now.

EDIT: version 1.7.4 of the Infected Bots plug-in has been uploaded to Ocuk 7.
