***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

You should all stop playing l4d and start playing Dogz 2! Now that's a game of the century! Too bad it doesn't have a multiplayer :P


On topic: we need to arrange more drunken games. Is the interest still there? Seeing I will be back again this week unless something ****s up (please don't!) I'd like some laughs :P

Drunken games are great fun - I should be set for one this Friday as the missus is out. I'll try get hold of a mic as well.... Most of you know that i'm lacking in the vocal department :rolleyes:

I try not to play drunken any more, I rage like hell (you have probably seen this)

I'll quite happily play a load of drunken people while I'm sober tho - I'm probably stupider when sober, as being drunk usually means I'm fast asleep :D it is worth noting though, that hearing Sharpy's voice is usually enough to make me all giddy and excited, so I might seem drunk.

Apologies to Antar and whoever else was on my versus game the other day, my PC had a major hissy fit and I had to reinstall Steam.
 
Ok so recently ive been seeing a lot of "Night 7 Hours Zelda v2 blah blah" and wont let me play the map untill i download the latest version. So i clicked on the link given ....download the map.....copy it into

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\addons
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\add-ons

(for some reason both folders existed when i first when into the directory...i ive copied each map into both ...i.e they are 100% duplicates).


....i then restart the game but game still asks me to download the map....only change is the icons you get next to the listed maps (one is a spanner & the other is an arrow), it now asks me to download some maps for both icons....which is odd.


Anyone else found this?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\addons is the only directory you need worry about. Delete both as well as the old version and double click on the vpk file to install again.
 
its been a long time I did not play L4D and since then custom map has been added to the game but I could never test it. Are the new maps played much or is it still the same old core map that everyone plays?

All four official campaigns get played. However, there is a reason No Mercy is played the most. It is far better than the others (which is a shame, as if they had been worked on better, the others could have been as good too)...
 
How quickly do these games fill up?

I'm hopefully finishing this overseas contract this week which should free me up to get some games in the evenings, quite looking forward to playing with some of you guys.
 
Friday nights they usually start around 7 - 8 and fill up within 10 mins.
Most people are already online and finishing games by then

Saturday they start between 10 - 12 when people get back from the pubs etc

Sundays they start around 6 - 8

Week nights they start around 7, but it is fairly infrequent to get an 8v8 on a week night.

I wouldn't say this game is too short now. Four official campaigns playable in both versus and campaign modes and numerous custom maps. At release there were only 2 official campaigns fully playable in both versus and coop. That was fixed in the last DLC.

Next DLC will bring in a fifth mini campaign...
 
I saw a review from some guy who rides around on his bike doing reviews and LOL'd at the complete amateurishness of the review. He was complaining about it being short.

Single player L4D is what the review talked about and single player is only what 10% of L4D

All the fun to be had from L4D is in versus and the majority of the versus fun 99% is had with OcUK and the other mates I know on steam.

Left 4 Dead for me is easily in the top 5 games I have every played!
 
Anyone know why i cant join games on some ocuk servers? Keeps telling me my maps differ from the servers. Ive tried reinstalling L4d but still have the same problem
