Lead8Dead Update

Looks like there may still be issues with the latest version of the plugin. I'll be investigating later tonight if I get time.

I may have to ask some people to help me test stuff so if you do get a message from me tonight (FrenchTart), please respond :p
 
I have to say, some good games over the weekend on the whole, except the one we got royally trounced on dead air, with two "not so strong" players, then in the finale the other, already winning team had to hide in a cupboard (they better remove that from the Versus release). Not really a fun game and was not impressed *scowls*. Didn't ragequit, but came close at that point. Not naming any names, but you probably know who you are :(

On another note Mr Frenchtart, I'll happily help you test should you wish to invite me, as long as I'm free at the time. :)

Ahaha we had a game last night with some OcUK and friends on Death Toll. Third map where you start in the train yard and have the event to defend the house at the end.

Our team first, we go and kill the early tank and continue and win map. The other "SCOUNDRELS" got the tank and then hid in some room with a metal door and the tank just slowly burnt to death (we killed one of them though).

All doors except initial safe room/exit room need to be bashable for tank/infected. This is the problem with VS on maps that aren't meant for VS, which is why if I do these maps I only have lulz in mind, even better fun for the "rush game" where you can spot the real noobies as they don't know where they are going. Yet all the original pro's know the score as most played copius amounts of Coop before playing VS :)

If I was on the server I'd personally kick/slap people for excessive cupboard camping, but I can see how most of the admins would be a bit worried about being too heavy-handed about it. I'd hope that in the interests of "fair play", most OcUK players wouldn't put admins in the position where they have to even think about slapping/kicking too often.

Hehe in my example it almost backfired for the "hiders in the closet". As once the tank died, his and another zombies corpse blocked the door from opening :D

I told them they had 1 minute and if nothing fixed I'd slay them all, a) to progress with the game and b) for being cheeky monkies.

Turns out the door opened in the end and they got boomered...and closed the door again :rolleyes:
 
I keep getting time outs on servers and have had my router re-boot itself once or twice.

Steam and L4D are both added to my firewall exceptions so I am at a loss to what could be causing this? Was fine on CS:S just L4D that causes shenanigens.

Any ideas? I am fairly new to L4D so there may be some settings I haven't tweaked via console etc...

Consider that noted. If more than two survivors are alive the next time I play Dead Air on versus and we're in the finale, if they go near that cupboard, I will warn, then start to SLAY ;) I can understand if you are an already weakened team, but four in cupboard, nah :(

Oh and Aekeron, is there a teleport option for the admins available in L4d? cus that could be handy :)

Lol. They'd certainly be fair game for lots of admin-induced pain :p I'll have to re-find the plugin that allows admins to summon tanks/hordes/etc...

You aren't on Be/o2 are you? I think the Speedtouches can have issues with TF2 and L4D...It's been a while since I've looked at that though...

Yeah. I'm not trying to suggest that everyone goes overboard with the punishment but using broken gameplay is a bit lame and it should be "gently discouraged" :p

I'm not aware of one - I think you can no_clip people via the admin menu though?

Just want to say thanks for all the invites these past few days, I've not responded to any as we have tons of work atm (we work from home and it's damn tempting to just play a cheeky game). Don't stop inviting me! :)

Doesn't matter buddy, you still have to use it through steam...I brought it in disc format as well just so I have a hard copy...that and it was cheaper at the time.

Lol :). Apologies for that, I told my team that you guys probably wouldn't play with us again if we did that, but they weren't fazed - couldn't stand outside on my own in the name of valour unfortunately :p!

That's the problem with Aekeron's subtley proposed 'heavy handed' approach. Not all players are necessarily instigators of the closet camping, and if a couple of players decide to do it, the others have little choice but to join them, unless they want to stand there and die on their own in the name of honour. 'Yeah well done mate' a couple of people might say, as the next round arrives all to quickly. Also, each situation is different. For example on this occasion, we were pretty much getting slapped all over the place by the infected team, so it's not like anything was happening but for an attempt to make things more even.

Anyway the other two maps are amazing on vs., and that's without being properly balanced / bug fixed. Looking forward to the proper release :).

I see where you've coming from. It's quite a difficult situation really..and hard/impossible not to punish the instigators without causing harm to those that are relatively innocent...
 
Regarding above RobbieG, it's all good lulz mate really. I was only really bothered when you all got stuck in the closet and was wondering if you were permanently stuck there or if I'd have to start the slaying.

Just had a decent game on Death Toll with some of the OcUK guys and friends. Really enjoying the difference even though it's not going to be the finished article.

We then organised an all rounder 4 map marathon of left for dead rush rules. Good lulz, well played to everyone, thoroughly enjoyable!
