New update was released on the 21st.

August 21, 2009 - Left 4 Dead Update Released

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Engine

Fixed an exploit that allowed files to be uploaded to the server at arbitrary locations in the file system

Fixed a server crash caused by a client packet claiming to be an HLTV client when HLTV is disabled on the server

Fixed a server crash caused by spoofing a client disconnect message

Fixed a server crash caused by sending malformed reliable subchannel data

Left 4 Dead

Novint Falcon support is now enabled by default

OcUK 3-5 updated (if needed..).

Hmm how are you updating? My L4D says 100% up to date

Just to update people, ocuk1+2 have currently been taken offline, to free up resources on the physical server for other game servers. 3-8 are all still running and the search key "ocuk" will still take you to either ocuk3 or ocuk8. ms force can be used for any server but I ask that you don't use ocuk6 (8v8) unless you are planning on an 8v8 game.

I've just installed L4D and I'm wondering how the hell to search for servers. It doesn't look like any of my other steam games. I can find games in progress and lobbies, but I can't see where to specify the server name that I would like to search for. Can anybody give me a tip?

just installed l4d after a long time, is survival a popular mode these days ?
is the game still popular in general ? i hope so

Join the ocuk l4d steam group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/OCUKLeft4Dead and the ocuk servers will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

Also add some of us as friends and you will get invites into games

You can enable the server browser by adding "-serverbrowser" to launch options. Or type "openserverbrowser" into the console.

Not sure if this is what you meant?

I've found few people willing to play Survival apart from those who need medals. I need most of them, so I'd be up for some Survival games - I'm in the first box on the gamer names list - but still moving home, so will be a day or two, I think.

I'm happy to jump in on a survival game now and again, i've got all the golds but helping fellow ocuk'ers get theirs can pass the time and can be entertaining.

Have we got a good enough list of players that actually play L4D regularly ?

Just with the OCUK group there are over 700 people and finding regular players is a bit hit and miss

I have my own list of friends but should we have a new list of people somewhere that play L4D more than once a week ?

having trouble with Left4dead since i rebuilt my pc. the graphic settings seem laggy, i don't have a great graphics card (9600gt) however it always played L4D with no issues. i have the latest nvid drivers all round.

can anyone recommend and modifacations with the settings below, i'm not sure on all the anti aliasing and vsync stuff
