What a difference 5million can make :D Almost forgot to spend the last £500,000 I left only remembered about it 10mins ago.

Plus taken a lot more money out of the evil people who put hazzards on me in the first place.

EDIT: £5million spending took my rent up by more than £6million gotta love nice chance cards, though saying that I got a few fines as well, plus im not top of the leaderboard by 900,000 so maybe they will ignore me today.... not that it matters being reset tomorrow.

I was going to suggest doing this for anyone that's "serious" but might not be around, so more than happy to. My email is in trust - send me a password that you want, seeing as you can't change it.

If anyone needs any streets go looking up around Scandavia, Trondheim seems like a good place :D there's loads of purple streets, not much point keeping it secret with the reset coming up soon!

P.S Any takers should put a sneaky hazard/bulldozer in and around the Barrow-in-Furness area, but not on a fellow OcUKers' roads :p My username is Gizka :D

Ouch, atleast for the planning permission fines its relevant to the cost of the building built.

So you can just fill up your streets will small buildings without much risk of a fine (a full road can only taken down properly with a combined bulldozer and hazard ) and then demolish the smaller buildings and build the large buildings only when you can easily afford to be fined a lot and with less chance of a successful attack.

Hmmm just thinking actually there is not much point to having school and parks etc on a full road as with or without it other people will still need to demolish one building before they can hazard it. Of course two parks would be useful on one road as they would need two bulldozers.

Just got a 10 million fine!!! gah!

edit - and now 12 million too!!

Basically when you have BIG bank balances you get hit with big fines - there needs to be a way of countering this. I have been building £500,000 size houses so got a lot of chance cards. Perhaps when we have a big balance you should concentrate on building more expensive buildings as getting chance turns out to be a large risk? There needs to be a strategy for later on in the game.

The reason I have been building 500,000 buildings is because they are the most efficient of the larger buildings (seemingly)(not taking into account their relative 'footprint', which needs to be factored in too really).

The lower the number on the right the better (this is cost/rent ratio)

2800000 6.53
2000000 5.41
1500000 4.53
1100000 3.77
900000 3.56
750000 3.50
600000 3.08
500000 2.86
400000 2.94
300000 2.86
200000 2.94
175000 3.02
150000 3.13
75000 2.59
50000 2.63

The 'footprint' needs to be taken into consideration, as when you get to later stages of the game, with a lack of roads, having built 'cheap' houses you be at a disadvantage. A formula (cost/footprint/rent) needs to be formulated somehow..

Anyone get me, Im not sure Im making sense!

What type of road did you work that out on? £1million roads have a 1:1 cost/rent ratio for the £50-75,000 buildings

My tactic (from now on) is to fill up with 75k buildings as they have a decent footprint over the 50k then go back and fill up the occasional gap with the 50k then go back once full with either £300k or as you suggest £500k buildings.

So it depends on the street? I have to start again and check on a £1million street..

edit:
ok so..with guessed cone sizes:

Code:
£1million Street
Cost Rent	Ratio	Footprint (Rent per cone) (Cost/Ratio p/c) (value of 25 cones)
2800000	1100000	2.55	3	366667	7.64	[COLOR="red"]9166667[/COLOR]
2000000	950000	2.11	3	316667	6.32	[COLOR="red"]7916667[/COLOR]
1500000	850000	1.76	3	283333	5.29	[COLOR="red"]7083333[/COLOR]
1100000	750000	1.47	3	250000	4.40	[COLOR="red"]6250000[/COLOR]
900000	650000	1.38	3	216667	4.15	[COLOR="Red"]5416667[/COLOR]
750000	550000	1.36	3	183333	4.09	4583333
600000	500000	1.20	3	166667	3.60	4166667
500000	450000	1.11	3	150000	3.33	3750000
400000	350000	1.14	2	175000	2.29	[COLOR="red"]4375000[/COLOR]
300000	270000	1.11	2	135000	2.22	3375000
200000	175000	1.14	2	87500	2.29	2187500
175000	150000	1.17	2	75000	2.33	1875000
150000	125000	1.20	2	62500	2.40	1562500
75000	75000	1.00	1	75000	1.00	[COLOR="red"]1875000[/COLOR]
50000	50000	1.00	1	50000	1.00	1250000

hmm I know mathematically there is a way to work this out, Im just too tired (and obviously bored! durr)

So it turns out the 75000, 400000 and 900000 (any building upwards thereafter) value buildings are the best relative bets? (looking at incremental ratio jumps/value) Early Game Strategy go for 75k buildings to get best ROI, then 400k, then 900k+..

http://blog.monopolycitystreets.com/2009/09/restart-date-set.htm

"When we launched MONOPOLY City Streets last week, we were thrilled that so many of you wanted to try your hand at global real estate domination. As many of you experienced, the initial rush led to slower servers, which in turn resulted in compromised data. You may have also discovered a few bugs while you’ve been getting to know the game and we’ve been hard at work to fix those problems.

To prepare for the restart, we will be taking down the game on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 at 15:00 GMT. We anticipate that the game will be down for 12 to 24 hours as we reset and test the game. When the site comes back live, the game will restart.

But, we’re not just restarting the game. We’ve made some improvements to the gameplay that we think address many of the concerns that you have brought to our attention while you played the game. We will provide additional details about these changes soon.

This restart does mean that everyone will be starting over with $3 million to spend and will need to register again.

Thank you all for your awesome support in the last few days. We appreciate all of the input, suggestions and most of all your patience."

Not true at all, see my above screen shot. I had ~$11m in rent that day, and had ~$8m of fines.

It's to do with your overall worth (total price of your roads including buildings).

Err surely they both go hand in hand, when you have high worth, you get a lot of rent and a big bank balance.
