***Official 2010 F1 thread***

This has probably been answered already.. but why arnt we having F1 in HD this year?

HD on your tele needs the show to be broadcast in HD
Broadcast in HD needs it to be filmed in HD
Filmed in HD need the cameras and AV infrastructure to be HD

F1 hasnt even started the HD process yet...

For the claims of motorsport's pinnacle this must really be getting some people's goats if not Bernie's. It is ridiculous that a sport heavily driven by advertising and branding wouldnt take up the opportunity.

Maybe it's just me and getting used to Eurosport HD, but to see Touring Cars advertised in HD and to think that F1 still won't be there nirks me. Nascar has had it for bloody ages...

Indeed, and it's really stupid that in 2010 F1 still isn't in HD. Is there anything else this high profile that isn't in HD?

Bernie lost it a while ago, i remember he said something about the fuel rigs costing too much to move around so they should be done away with, this coming from the man who flew a car collection half way around the world.

Weren't the McLarens, Brawns, Red Bulls, Ferraris and Renaults all fitted with higher quality (HD?) on-board (cockpit) cameras by the European GP (possibly earlier; I don't really recall when I first noticed the difference and I can't be bothered whipping out the season review just to check).

The difference between the on-board cameras of those five teams and the other five was night and day. When watching any of the other teams' on-board shots, it's like you were watching something recorded with a 10-year-old video camera on an equally old TV and VCR.

Even if the track and helicoptor cameras aren't in HD, I'll be satisfied as long as every car gets fitted with high-quality on-board cameras.

I hate Bernie for not implementing HD, I would have upgraded my Sky by now if the F1 was available, I don't watch enough other stuff to warrant it yet.

I have just realised that I will be on a weekend away in Belfast for the first race.

Words cannot describe how unhappy I am about this!

I found out I'm missing the first race too...

But I should be able to avoid news sources until I get back and pretend it's live. Still not the same though.
