***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Briatore ban was expected - but not renewing superlicences for any drivers on a management contract with him is a bit of a kick in the nuts for them.

Should be good for them actually. Flavio was probably earning quite a % of their salaries. So now that the FIA has anulled those contracts people like Alonso and Kovalainen are free agents and can get whoever they want to manage them under their own terms and percentages.

Or have I completely misunderstood? :D

let off scot free then.

a opposition team hands you there data

100 mil fine plus kicked out of a championship.

fix a race with a deliberate crash

nothing.

But no other penalty is complete garbage.... message to all the teams - cheat away! As long as you have someone to pay off to take responsibility you're clean.

An absolute farce, they didn't hit them with a decent penalty or ban because they knew they couldn't afford it and would walk. Yet macca get a 100 million because they never sent out signals turning their back on the sport.

What renault did was 10 times worse than mclaren.

In fact BAR got a worse punishment for doing what half the grid was doing anyway.

I never expected a large fine but I'm surprised they haven't been kicked out of the championship like Mclaren were though.

Love the complete ostracising of Briatore!

Can you remember what the first suspended ban was for mate?

Short memories.. ;)

Wheel coming off?
1 race ban changed under appeal to 1 race suspended ban and $50'000 fine.

An absolute farce, they didn't hit them with a decent penalty or ban because they knew they couldn't afford it and would walk.

They can't walk away - they've signed the Concorde Agreement which locks them into F1 until 2012 - if they withdraw before then they get a massive court case for breach of contract from FOM

This is the single biggest problem with this judgement, the fact that McLaren were penalised so heavily for a lesser offence.

Basically, the FIA knew that any significant penality would see Renault walking away and thus mitigated their verdict accordingly. McLaren were deemed to be dedicated enough to F1 that their penality wouldn't see them leave.

This judgement has done more damage to the credibility of F1 than any team could ever have. Utter utter farce.

I am trying to find out if there first one(and what it was) will come into force now.

So the bottom line here is that both the FIA and the FOTA and can be brought

well this sentence only comes into play if a comparable is committed so as long as renault dont fix another then all is fine.

utter sham.

I agree completely. :(

Well they clearly aren't bothered or there is get out clauses because the top man at renault has said they will now sit down and discuss the futute of the f1 team.

It's the fact that the FIA have basically cancelled legal contracts between 2 parties neither of which are contracted to the FIA.
Any of the managers will be taking 10% roughly, it's just if they liked being Flabio's flock tough titties... find someone else.

Can't see how they could get away with that.

Would they? Not sure Bernie would want the bad publicity of a major court battle with Renault. Also, any financial penalty Renault incurred for breach of contract would likely be far less than the money they'd save by not participating for another three years.

They were dicussing the engine situation the other day on the BBC.

If you are taking a hit on the grid, why not change the engine three times in the weekend leading up to a race. Take a 30 (lol) place grid penalty, and bank the spare engines for future races with no penalty?

Then just fuel up the car for the race, and try and scrape some points with a clever strategy and a heavy car.

The FIA have to be able to find a fault with the engine to be able to swap it out (I think this is what Martin was saying during the race) ;)

With the McLaren case - McLaren was held responsible for it's employees...
Renault - employees are separate from Renault...

Dear FIA.

con·sis·ten·cy (kn-sstn-s)
n. pl. con·sis·ten·cies

1. a. Agreement or logical coherence among things or parts: a rambling argument that lacked any consistency.

1. b. Correspondence among related aspects; compatibility: questioned the consistency of the administration's actions with its stated policy.

2. Reliability or uniformity of successive results or events: pitched with remarkable consistency throughout the season.

3. Degree of density, firmness, or viscosity: beat the mixture to the consistency of soft butter.

+ 1,000,000 :D

Complete joke of a verdict (at least Flav got a life time ban and Symonds got 5 years, but the team in question should have had a fine of AT LEAST the same amount as McLaren at the very least, and loss of all constructor points for this year and next year)
