Man of Honour
It's bank holiday Monday as well. May I suggest 72 hour sous vide short rib finished on the BBQ on Monday!
Tempting. I'm away Sat-Sun but I could leave the Anova on whilst I'm out

I put a pork shoulder on at 8:30am and it was done by about 5pm. The joys of working from home, although it took no effort from me once I'd got it on there.
This weekend I'll be cooking two beef foreribs and I'll also be smoking a pork shoulder in my ProQ Excel. I need to find a clay saucer first though!
Or some sand
I need a bigger bbq. Storage space is an issue so looking at a kettle type suitable for cooking for 6 to 8 people for about a hundred (or so) pounds.
Recommendations?
Smoking overnight - any top tips? I'm not that used to my Frontier but want to get some slow stuff done for lunch this weekend. I'm guessing that starting at say 9, brimming the fuel again at 11 and it should stay alight for 6 am? It may be raining of course!
Are you using water or a clay saucer / sand? Fill the charcoal basket to the top with unlit coals and then light a full chimney and put that on, let it come up to temperature and then you should get a good 5 - 8 hours out of that single basket
Is the charcoal basket not very big on a frontier? 5-8 hours for a full load seems very short.
What did you cook it on?
The Frontier is capable of more but I personally think Chokka is over-stoking things a little with his suggestion of a full lit chimney to start things off. Half a chimney of lit coals is more than enough to get things going and using clay/sand in the water bowl and careful vent management will get you 10 hours of smoke fairly easily with decent charcoal.
Pricing up a One Touch Premium charcoal bbq with premium cover and chimney starter is about £229 from World of Power (anyone used them before?).
Riverside Garden Centre do it for £253 with 3kg of briquettes and fire lighters...
Are there any other accessories that are classed as "essential" ??
Where do you all get your lumpwood/briquettes from? And what's generaly regarded as better? Lumpwood or Briquettes? (Sainsburys lumpwood is a bit small usually and falls through the grate so will need some bigger lumpwood if I go down that route).
I have about 40 bookmarked recipes ready to use
Thanks
Weber One Touch Original for £135. It's the best basic BBQ you'll ever own and with a 57cm grill, you have loads of room for cooking a load of meat. You can even smoke on one too if you fancy giving that a try later on
