What's everyone's BBQ plans for this weekend?

Mine just might be some chicken thighs and keeping it simple, I've cooked a lot of big meat lately so something quicker will make a nice change.

Still need to brine and then dry them in the fridge though!

What's everyone's BBQ plans for this weekend?

Tried my first bacon explosion - need to practise the rolling! Also did some pulled pork at the same time with a Sainsburys boneless shoulder. First time using cocoshells - hot stuff! Temps up at 250F with bottom vents almost closed and was still going strong 6 hours after lighting

Sadly no BBQ so far this weekend though I have sous-vided a load of pork shoulder that I needed to use up. Half chipotle/adobo and half in a thai curry mix.

I might pick up some steak for tomorrow and cook it over the chimney. Totally obsessed with chimney afterburner BBQ atm.

Dammit now Im soo close to ordering not seen it that cheap before. Except a cover what else will I "need" quite new to BBQ'in as lived in a flat since moving out but this year I have a garden. And I dont wanna buy a new BBQ every year and from what I have read webers last ages.

You should definitely get a chimney starter. It's an absolute must have.

You dont even really need a cover if you take care of it to be honest.

Amazon do a good alternative cover to the Webber premium cover (retails around £60), just search for 'Bosmere C700 Premium Kettle BBQ Cover' and it's great quality and should last ages.

The free vinyl type cover I got with my one touch pack last season has holes in it already and looks a bit of a mess. Not a chance I was going to spend big money on a cover.

Loving my Weber Spirit Premium, been using it nearly every day since I got it! lol

Just been cooking the usual stuff sausage, corn on the kob, chicken, burgers, black pudding, pork/beef steaks. Made some shish kebab's yesterday (yummy) Will be making some more of them, plus the combo's are endless!

Cooks the food so lovely, really impressed with it. Dare I say the best BBQ food I've ever had.

So much more convenient with gas, not so weather dependant now. Turn it on high for 10 min to heat it up and burn/clean the crap off the grates - ready to go! ;)

My Weber will be getting a lot of use that's for sure.

Glad you're enjoying it though I'd argue that coal BBQs aren't weather-dependant either ;)

I should have phrased it differently but. . .

Personally I could not be bothered to do a BBQ (coal) if the weather was not good. But that just me. But with gas it's so convenient (and fast too), I can do it all year round no matter what the weather which I like.

;)

Any ideas for something exciting for the vegetarians amongst us? Ideally I would like to use the BBQ to make some special for the veggies, to get them involved with the meal (and not just "look - lots of meat, and here's a salad I made for you outsiders").

I'd do stuffed jacket potatoes / roast Mediterranean vegetables.

You can also grill aubergine if it's to their taste.

Or if you are feeling up to it, make bean burgers. I've done it a few times in the past as I live with a vegetarian.

Do things like falafels, supposedly there's a cheese you can do on the BBQ but as I can't eat much dairy (cheese is too much) :/

Also I used to enjoy portabello mushrooms with stilton with cranberry over the top.. don't forget things like cored potates stuffed with tomatoes and pepper, also things like stuffed peppers.. although the BBQ boys do it a bit hard core meat - you have the right idea...

mmm.. sorry to say no BBQ for me today :/
