I did my Christmas turkey on the barbecue this year as we are in a new (old) house with an appalling and borderline unusable kitchen. It worked a treat as a crown. Best turkey I've had by far.

Posted in the Things I've Bought thread, but also thought I might venture in here lol

15kg of BigK ACH15 charcoal and some oak and applewood chips for some smoky flavour - gonna do a lump of pork soon, low and slow. Really looking forward to it!

Just got a Weber One Touch premium from Homebase as they have a 20% discount on BBQ's this weekend. With various Nectar point offers also applied it came to £160 which is about the cheapest around at the moment. All I need now is some warm sunshine and the incessant wind to drop a bit. :)

Looking at pulling the plug on investing in a new BBQ. I see Homebase have 20% off atm, but i only have around £80 max to spend. Anyone have any experience of the Weber Compact 47cm? Wish i could justify spending double and getting the One Touch Premium.

^ Looking good.

Moobert - there are nice features on the more expensive BBQs but as macca says, you can cook just as nice food on the cheaper models so personally I'd get something cheap now and upgrade later if you really feel the need. I wouldn't even go Weber to start with - you can probably get a £50 B&Q/etc branded kettle BBQ that will be perfectly serviceable for this year and maybe next. After that you'll have a better idea if paying the premium for a better BBQ is worth it for you.

Got my new Weber One-Touch 57 yesterday.

Got a few people over next weekend for a bbq.

Home made burgers, 48 hour marinated chicken tikka skewers and quick marinated mackerel are all on the menu.
